How far must employers go to monitor their staff to protect the public, this will be something that can never be answered, sadly events such as this will only ever come to light after it is too late, I believe the current barring check system is simply a system that is failing and a simple tick box effort to satisfy the most basic set of rules. What can the industry do to prevent such incidents ? Your thoughts

What can the industry do to prevent such incidents ? Your thoughts Checks carried out are through the CRB system, but, this only uncovers convictions or warnings given out. The offences committed in these 2 incidents were by their nature secretive and had not come up on these checks. (hence he had a job) We have no system in the world where a persons thoughts can be monitored so there sadly will be more cases like this. The most important thing to come out of this is having a safe environment where brave girls like the one in this case can feel comfortable in reporting these incidents and getting convictions like this. |
