Stagecoach have won the contract for the 65, and it will be operated by the Chesterfield depot. It will also operate via the new x17 route between Sheffield and meadowhall. Fun times ahead then.

If true, this sees a return to stagecoach for the service which used to be operated by stagecoach Manchester I believe??
Is the route changing then? How does Meadowhall feature on this route if this is the case?

I can now spot this change on the stagecoach webpage for Chesterfield changes. However, it states that the service will run from Chesterfield - Buxton - how does Sheffield fit into this? I thought the Chesterfield part of this route was run on the 66 by Hulleys??

I've just seen this myself as well, I assume this is a mistake as it was the operations manager of chesterfield depot who said about the 65 being meadowhall- Sheffield- Buxton so I assume he's the one that's right! These updates on the website have been wrong occasionally in the past about this sort of thing.

How does Meadowhall feature on this route if this is the case? It was before my time but some of the drivers at Chesterfield mentioned that they used to run it until 2003 so I don't know if Manchester did it at some point as well. I don't know if the route is changing, but I assume the extension to meadowhall is to reduce the long layover in Buxton on the current timetable.

It got reduced to saturdays only and then finally scrapped. The passenger was upset.

I have tweeted Stagecoach Yorkshire this morning. They thanked me for pointing out an error, it should say Sheffield not Chesterfield to Buxton. This is in the process of being corrected. I've also asked TSY to change their inaccurate timetable ASAP, so that with only around 10 days to go before the change people finally can plan and know where they stand. Why are timetable changes always so messy? Tsy have contacted the relevant department at their end.

Putting it quite simply, SYPTE will be playing their usual game and will no doubt be soon putting a press release out taking the credit for "saving the service".

Nice to see that a couple of trips on the new 65 timetable do not have a D above them on the timetable, this means that Stagecoach is running them commercially. Although the times are different high peak run within about half an hour I think, I wonder weather High peak will keep their custom. Especially as Stagecoach extend to Meadowhall. I hope the new 65 becomes successful and that the route extension helps. Derbyshire seem to have cut a lot of subsidies lately. No money about I guess. It also doesn't look like High Peak are accepting Stagecoach tickets and vice versa, so with only two return trips from High Peak, Stagecoach may be more popular

There's previously been criticism of Stagecoach for not running a bus service from the city centre to Meadowhall. Now they will be running two (X17 and 65).
Maybe they'll be able to promote an Ecclesall - Hunters Bar service to Meadowhall better to existing Stagecoach passengers of the 83a/ 88.

The X17 is being promo-d at my shop I work in at Meadowhall (at least to staff members - not the public), and free day tickets are available to us for when it is being launched.
