Just a quick question, but I was wondering if anyone know's what the current future use is for the livery's of First in South Yorkshire? We're seeing First Sheffield's new blue one being rolled out and in Doncaster we have the new red one and also the clever one too. But can anyone confirm if these new livery's and brands are to be used on all vehicles in those areas eventually or just some? Are Doncaster going to keep both Red and Clever or opt for one (the red one looks so good) and if there are any plans for a Rotherham identity?

As far as I can tell, Doncasters clever buses is just to support the promotion so wont be around long term. The other 2 will stay. Rotherham has no operation centre and is served by buses from both depots so with interworking would not be practical. A lot would depend on whether the current management are happy to follow the scorched earth policy of the previous one or actually try and fix Rotherham. It would take more than a coat of paint though.

I am under the impression that the red-fronted/Urban Doncaster buses will not be staying in that livery as it was decided against.

First's merger with Leicester is good and they are trying different things but all this let's paint some buses in red then oh no we don't like it let's paint it in some other colour is what is wrong at First. There are far more important matters than the colour of a bus I mean there's covid financial issues, routes, fares whatever and they are worried about what colour a bus looks. The red livery is fine there is nothing wrong with it.

In fairness, from the perception of a passenger the presentation of buses is definitely important.

I think instead of having individual branding for routes such as the 272 'Peak Line' and Buses For Sheffield, it is best to keep the whole of South Yorkshire as a uniform fleet. Especially with unit swaps and interworkings. First seem to want to establish unique identities for their business divisions, such as Buses Of Somerset, GWR, Transpennine Express no long branded First in the title. What about branding South Yorkshire as 'Mainline'? It's a brand customers identify with and some still use when speaking about FSY. I assume First have the legal rights to use it as they painted the Eclipse in Mainline livery. I think the name Mainline is catchy and punchy, it implies it's the main bus service in the area. The bright colours are also attractive but easier to maintain than intricate detailing like the Women Of Steel bus. From what I've read on this forum, despite First's investments in new buses over recent years, morale is low amongst some staff. A rebrand back to when the company was owned by it's staff might boost morale.

The ex Leicester05 plate B7s that are in the “clever bus” livery won’t be around long term. As for the 2 Streetlites yes they were done as a trial and it was decided against, the single deck Doncaster red bus livery is like what was done on 69051. 69051 was done sort of as a trial, it was off long term for a major RTC repair
