It has been announced this morning that SYPTE have been successful in their ZEBRA bid, which will see the introduction of 27 new electric vehicles. - 23 will be based at Rawmarsh and are for use on 22X and 221. - 4 are still un-allocated and are for the new ‘FreeBee’ service in Sheffield. With regards to the 22X/221, this bid also includes the infrastructure required at both Rotherham Interchange and also Rawmarsh depot. Rawmarsh Hill will shortly have a limit of 26 buses per hour max, due to the CAZ. However, this only applies to EURO VI vehicles. Electric vehicles won’t be included in the restriction. It'll be a warm seat for the spice heads to pass out on I suppose.

Just like when SYPTE bought the 635's park and ride which no one got so much so when First used them on other Doncaster routes they still were pristine inside, I suppose that's the bonus of local schemes like Manchester will have, nice shiny electric buses running on routes no one uses so they stay clean and untouched.
