I noticed today that 15 service in Doncaster on a Sunday has a 32 minute wait time at Clay Lane, I thought this was an error so watched it on live tracker and it really sits there for over half an hour, but at Edlington it has a 1 minute wait and in Doncaster 3 minutes.
Just curious as to why they would give a bus service such a long wait time, is it classed as a break for the driver and what is the longest wait time any bus has at a terminus.

I am not 100% sure, but I would have thought for it to be classed as a break, the driver would be entitled to be away from their vehicle, to go for a drink and have toilet facilities. A bit difficult if you are at a remote terminus. I suspect the best person to know this maybe Duncan. He has certainly put me right on a few things. I had no idea just how much passengers came at the bottom of the pile, when it came to how it is decided buses should run.

The wait time I assume is purely to give the service a 60minute frequency. I don't know Doncaster services well, but this looks like a through service so can't wait in Doncaster for long if there's through passengers. The wait time will not likely be part of the drivers break as stated above. When I was a driver a few years back the 47/48 when it used to serve Herdings on a Sunday morning buses used to wait some time at Herdings terminus can't remember exactly but 40mins rings a bell wasn't part of your break, although I had a cheeky nap sometimes just set my alarm for 5mins before departure.

I believe it will be to retain a 60 minute frequency. Hatter Drive terminus in Edlington isn’t ideal to be sat waiting for any length of time and it’s no good on a cross town route having a long wait half way along the route.
My opinion is it wants splitting up and the 15 just run Doncaster-Edlington the same as the 66 would run better split up. I can’t believe there still isn’t a bus service down Wheatley Hall Road with the shops/food places and all the new houses going up
As for drivers having breaks at outer terminus such as Clay Lane, First don’t do it

They could split 15 on a Sunday and have Edlington twice an hour, they should have sent 84 down Beckett Road and that would have made it profitable.

Re Wheatley Hall Road I was thinking more about the stuff that’s gone up along there over more recent years, they’re still on with building a big housing estate now. I get the hospital needs buses yes. If I lived at Clay Lane or along the 84 route I wouldn’t want my bus going down Beckett Road slowing the journey time down and getting windows bricked at night and such like and then parked cars are a constant problem on Nether Hall Road
