www.thestar.co.uk/news/politics/ten-days-before-dozens-of-bus-services-face-axe-in-south-yorkshire-warns-sheffield-mp-4017771Same rubbish on a different day according to the above article. However SYMCA appear to be quite happy to fund the £2 scheme before the rest of the country, and seem adamant on maintaining the 80p price fayre. Probably at the expense of multiple bus services. I think we are in for a battle again. Those of us who depend on buses anyway. Still no replacement for the 138, with elderly people in Kimmy cut off, because of the long walking distance. Surly an existing route could be extended with a small subsidy? Heard someone complaining about the lack of the 138 the other day. No sign of the "new" 227 either. I don't think we'll ever see it. I suppose we have to work hard to maintain some of what we have got, and hope it's not as shambolic as last October. Any thoughts?

They can promise the earth or say “we would have done this” when they’re not in power, it doesn’t mean to say that they’d fulfil it if they get in

Large parts of Herringthorpe not served either and some parts are hilly for the less mobile around the Dovedale Rd area.

No I admit it completely forgot about the 114. I cannot believe that neither service has been replaced in some form with a small subsidy. Surly you could extend the 115/6 or the 137/9. I wonder if they had time to even do an impact assessment on how such as quick major change would effect people. I also worry for the future, what else is at risk? Rotherham has lost a lot of work already.

Tomorrow it will be 6 weeks until the govt funding ends and bus companies need to announce their plans for April onwards. Any news on what First and Stagecoach plan to do after April if no further help is given?

Any news on what First and Stagecoach plan to do after April if no further help is given? There's been a 2 week extension from the Department for Transport as discussions are ongoing. This will see the window change period reduced to 4 weeks, on this occasion only. Early indications are not looking good for any extension to BRG (now CBSSG) funding.

This is a problem isn't it? Because the train network gets a massive subsidy. Buses are essential, we need them. I am no fan of the Government, but why should funding be extended when companies cannot even run a reliable timetabled service? Why in Worksop's case will they pay a Skegness driver to come all that way door to door daily. Yet they don't want to pay an overtime enhancement rate to their own staff. There are twenty local buses canceled tomorrow on multiple routes. Nobody can plan anything until the last minute. Until you improve reliability, passenger numbers will remain low. Do operators need to do a little bit more to help themselves out here? I overheard a local driver the other day say that he hadn't seen the deputy manager of his depot out on the road in the last 12 months, despite daily shortages and cancelations. Am I being to harsh here? Or do attitudes of the bigger operators need to change?
