Slightly funny topic, but rode on Stagecoach Cummins Solo YN53ZWD 47423 the other day.
Noticed that this bus has a strange variation on the interior roofline/ceiling of the normal Solo, although the rest of the spec is similar to YTCs standard Solo. The roof mouldings and lighting system are much more stylish and it has particularly swish interior light areas.
Just wondered if anyone knew whether this is a one off/small number of such spec as I have never seen one with such an interior before?

Off memory, so could be wrong, I believe the bus in question was initially to be an Optare demo, but was suppied to Terrier at short notice. It was bought by the company to provide back up (though in effect became one of the 2 front line vehicles) for the 61-4 contract, as the two 51 plate Solos owned by the PTE and supplied to Terrier with the 61-4 contract were very unreliable in their early days (aren't great now, but have had a lot of work done on them). It's also a Cummins engined one, far better than the standard Merc engined ones.

If First ones have the Merc-Benz engines, I agree. Hopefully they're less likely to set themselves alight, too...

Stagecoach didnt buy this bus, terrier had it along time before the takeover & it is in Full YTC spec red seats, green bell posts etc i believe it came brand new due to the problems mentioned above not second hand & certainly not since Stagecoach took over. All Ecclesfield Solo's came in Terrier days for the 61 - 64 + 201
