Olympian 34106 entered service at Doncaster on Monday on the usual roll-call of services.
B6LE 40483 (446) was at Rotherham yesterday awaiting completion for service. The bus has been repanelled and repainted and looked great - albeit at over 11 years old!.
Might also be worth saying that Rotherham is currently playing host to a number of Volvo CityBus's (ex-Glasgow) for refurb and repaint (31269 looked bloody good, if odd with no rear windows) and the ex-D&C Dennis Tridents displaced from the P&R service now operated by Enviro 400's.
I'd assume that 32802, 32803 and 32846 will join cousins at Glasgow. Also noticeable that long-term resident Dart SLFs 404804 and co. seem to have been moved for work at last.
Also of interest - perhaps - was that:
a) ex-PMT Dominator 30013 still resides at RO (why?) b) PD3 tower 90092 seems to have been re-activated and is being used within Rotherham depot.
Its pal - 90091 at OG has at least been moving around recently, although work still seems to elude it!
Hope of interest

The recovery truck at Rotherham has been active since November but is only used round the depot, don't know if Olive Grove recovery is still in use

I'll try and answer all that lot, but firstly - nice photos!
All B6LEs should carry new livery and all should have LED blinds. The common practice will be to repanel or panel-beat (as appropriate) all buses before repaint. Not saying it always happens, but it should. Makes the fleet look better if nothing else.
34106 will have an LED. I haven't seen it, but new roller blind units will not be fitted (especially as they would need to be to London size) anymore. Given that it will have been painted, panelled and converted to single door, the task of installing an LED unit is rather small.
Due to licensing issues (i believe) the towers will be restricted to in-depot movements. 90092 was making a fine job of chugging around Rotherham on Friday, whilst i have seen 90091 moving - albeit this is more likely to be 'giving it a run to make sure it aint ceased up!' than for productive use.
What with open top VRs, police horse-carriage lorries, preserved PD's and tower units, it been entertaining viewing recently at OG!

Saw 34106 on Tuesday out on the 84, it has conventional roller blinds (London style) fitted, not an LED display like the rest of the batch now have.

As I'm completely away from the area now, what's used these days for towing failed vehicles out on the streets?

a) Quite right, my error. An LED is on order for 34106 - seems someone has found a roller in the store room.
b) All towing is now handled by a contractor (S&H Recovery) using lorries. The 'FSY' towing units are now solely for internal use.
