OK, and.....
Not trying to be unpleasant but just as you see the AA and RAC by cars at the roadside, so buses do also fail. Its not a rarity that i'd report.

Utterley Buttery,
Must you comment on everything someone puts on this forum that could be seen as a negitive comment regarding First? This was merley a comment informing the group that this volvo had broken down and did not need your sarcasm, as far as i am concerned although you bring much useful information to this group, you are also spoiling the forum as your voice is louder than anyone elses. People will eventually get fed up and not bother with the forum and this would be a shame!

First off 'wakeysteve' i don't "shout loudest" i try to bring an informed comment to a subject, and in cases like this i try to end something before it starts running away with itself.
And i might just point out that at no point was there any issue regarding the operator. I just don't feel that a breakdown of any bus is newsworthy of its own thread. Whether we like it or not buses break down - as do cars, lorries etc etc - every day. What we don't need is a composite record starting of every one.
It has absolutely nothing to do with operator.
However, for your benefit steve, knackers to it. If thats your take on the work and time thats put in - fine. Last information i bother with as i wouldn't want to upset you - the man with 6 postings.

I must disagree. UB does not try to stop -ve First comments - whilst he defends them, this is nescesarry to prevent things turning into an Anti First Slinging match. However when First *are* in the wrong, he does admit it.

Thanks Tom, much appreciated. Think Wakeysteve may need an extra cup of coffee to get that out of his system next time.

However, for your benefit steve, knackers to it. If thats your take on the work and time thats put in - fine. Last information i bother with as i wouldn't want to upset you - the man with 6 postings. With respect UB, I think that's the attitude WakeySteve was objecting to. Just because he has 6 posts does not mean he isn't entitled to his views. As it happens, I think Steve's post went a little too far, but I do agree with some of the sentiment of his posting, as I'm sure do others on this forum. It does seem - at times - that certain members of the board are very 'anti-anything-bad-about-First'. Examples - recently we have had any rumours about First, or any bad press very quickly 'rubbished' and the post closed even before people have had chance to add their comments. On the flip side, we (and I use the term 'we' to mean the whole membership of this forum) will gladly accuse other operators of illegal practices, accuse them of gamesmanship, closing depots etc etc, then there is the whole MASS thread which, frankly, was extremely liabalous and frankly immature to the extreme. That one rolled on for months before it was stopped. We also have an element of 'double standards' at times - the Moderators are very quick to clamp down on 1-liners or nonsense posts, but will at times engage in that practice themselves. That's not an attack at the 3 moderators at all, they do a good job, and it's one I certainly wouldn't want to do. All I will say is, at times, it does feel like "1 rule for 1 and another for other people". Steve raised a geniune concern. No need to shoot it down in flames. I also note now that the Moderators are editing posts from other people - certainly UB has edited WakeySteve's posting... is there any point people actually contributing to this forum if the moderators are removing things presumably which either have a dig at them or the company they work for ?

Steve is entitled to his view indeed YTC, and i dispute your take on things. I stand by my reaction as i feel that on the whole (we all have bad days/moments of madness etc) i provide facts and informed comments. OK, maybe i do defend certain bodies over others. However, a) thats just human nature (i.e. don't shit in your own back yard) and b) i don't know enough about other operators to emphatically confirm/deny such things. Where i can defend Stagecoach or others i have and do so. However, for obvious reasons i leave the likes of that to those who know. Again, 'one-liners' - you make a fair point. We all engage in it at times, as not every answer can be crammed with facts. However, there is a vast difference between 'a laugh' or 'a bit of fun' and "Great photo mate". What we are clamping down on is needless postings not some genuine response to something. No members of this forum are trying to be biased either against or for any operator. However, i think you will find that the press do an absolutely first class job of that, as does Sheffield Forum which leads to spurious questions and claims flying about. Therefore, yes, i do try and keep it down and quash the rubbish. As far as i am aware very little 'negative stuff' gets said about Stagecoach on here and therefore its hardly apples and apples is it? And we are all to aware of what we are referring to regarding 'accusations'. Maybe some things have gotten too far recently. That i will hold my hands up to. However i have never accused any operator of closing depots, that - as is often the case - was a rumour that flew around - not least in local enthuasist magazines. The information (or speculation) was already there and i merely suggested what MAY happen subject to any of the foregoing. Final Points - I wasn't suggesting that Steve's view was somehow unimportant because of his number of postings, what i was suggesting was that he can hardly accuse me of "shouting the loudest" if he, like others make no postings in 6 months. His first 'positive' contribution was to try and shoot me down in flames. Not on. I would also like to point out that it has previously been asked that people with any issues draw them to the attention of the 'staff' via PM rather than using up valuable space slagging each other off. However, once again, personal digs are on the forum. A quiet word saying "look, you might not see it but...." might be the best first port of call? What really occurs is we have a public slanging match with phrases like "i'm sure other people on here will agree" in almost a vain attempt for them to lavish support on the motion. If other people have grievances, again, lets talk about them. And finally, Steve's post was purely edited as once again names were mentioned. I simply removed the name reference not the content as i'm sure Steve would agree. If YTC, you feel that first names are the way forward (which having discussed the subject i know you aren't) then you have NO reason to criticise. The mods on here do not delete or edit posts for fun, and certainly not as part of any 'agenda'. However, where something has been said inappropriately or where messages are of no value, or have dived off the point they are deleted/edited/moved. I would have thought that was what mod's were expected to do, apparently not. Now frankly, i'm getting bored of items that have no transport relevance at all. Clearly - look at the title - this has spun off into a completely new direction to that it started. Can we now agree that mud-slinging (if at all necessary) be done via PM please?

With respect MOTI, your first reply to Steve did have a strong feel of "teddies out of the cot" to it.
Anyway, end of topic, back to the important stuff...
