Well I've seen quite a lot of activity with First today and decided to comment on it here in a separate thread as there appears to be a bit of everything!
Firstly I got a somewhat rare sighting of the 'School Bus' blind on a B10M at about 07.45 in Aughton, which also was displaying route 27.
Then at around 07.50 I saw an Optare Solo with no front engine cover and the 13 route on the blinds heading up past Ulley country park towards Aughton. An RTA perhaps?
As I was heading into Sheffield at around 13.20 I noticed a B10M on the 52 with no destination blinds other than the number.
I got a chance to ride on a Gemini for the first time this afternoon in Sheffield - an absolutely fantastic bus and it's a shame I'm not in a position to use them more often.
Then on the return journey from Sheffield back to Rotherham I saw a N--- CKY B10M in the Wicker with only the number 85 and no destination blind present - perhaps the same one that was on the 52.
As I was leaving Sheffield I noticed a B10BLE parked up in some sort of vehicle maintenace place with 95 displayed on the blinds.
And if that wasn't enough as I was heading to Meadowhall I saw an F reg Leyland Lynx with no blinds or learner plates on heading away from Meadowhall yet there was only one driver on board so it couldn't have been for training purposes.
There's more as well! If you miss out the X78 driver on a B10M H--- THL who was using his mobile phone, then we came up to a B6 that was displaying '21 - Sorry Not In Service' on the rollerblinds parked up round the back of Meadowhall. I had just seen the driver changing the destination blinds but not the number so I wonder what it was doing there.
And to finish off today, I spotted a B7TL ALX400 on the 52 this evening at around 21.10 in Handsworth.
So on the whole a somewhat interesting day!

Thit was most likely the LSUK place at the Wicker, I sighted some B10BLEs there a while back. A report and explanation is given here. Afraid I can't explain the rest of that stuff though! Certainlt an odd day!

Well id imagine the 27 B10M may be on one of the AM shorts from crystal peaks to Aston School if it still runs? used to be a 27a. As for the Solo was it a First one? just asking as Powells have a White Solo & there the only operator in rotherham with a 13 & the M13 does go up that way & the first run goes into Aughton itself to serve Aston Comp.

The bus in question may have been getting ready to run dead to sheffield for a extra peak hour 21 if it had changed to not in order as some rotherham routes drop in frequency at peak times slightly which id imagine frees up staff for extra buses elsewhere such as more 21s/23s/24s etc

The thing with B10Ms with no blinds seems to be more common, often when they're moved aorund or shuffled onto routes for which they don't have blinds - presumably nobody bothers to make up fresh blinds as everybody is going LED these days.

Well, there should be no excuse for a Sheffield B10M to not have Crookes and Woodhouse on the blinds. Can only assume a damaged and therefore removed blind.

In response to some comments posted earlier in the thread:
There still is a 'school run' as in a 27 from Crystal Peaks to Aston school but that's normally operated by an Olympian with the 27 Crystal Peaks to Rotherham (about five minutes difference between the two) is usually run by an Olympian with the odd B10M. Because of this, I was a little surprised to see a B10M with 'school bus' instead of an Olympian. I also thought that it would be a little far to run dead from Rotherham all the way to Crystal Peaks for an extra service. Surely it would make more sense to use one of the buses that terminates at Aston and run dead from there? Saying that I saw a B6 with 28 Killamarsh on Monday morning running dead through Aston and down Mansfield Road.
As for the Optare Solo - it was a First one in Barbie 1 livery with route 15 East Herringthorpe (not 13 as I originally put) on the dot matrix blinds. It couldn't have been the Powell's solo at that time anyway as it would have been too early for the route which serves Aston school. I don't recall seeing any passengers on board though there was a driver and another first employee wearing the hi-vis vest on board.
