What was the most frequent stand alone route in South Yorkshire say from 1980 to now and when was this?
When I say stand alone I mean a route like the 52 in Sheffield and not the 47/48 route in Sheffield.

At the moment i would say the combined 41/42 operation is probably the most frequent. locals on birley spa lane say it is a mile long bus station at times. Overall yes the 52, but i believe the 60 had the most frequent headway in the 80s.

Think it would have been the 52 and 69 a few years back, maybe late 80's early 90's when both run around 3 - 5 minutes each.
Now for a route on it's own it would be the 52 in Sheffield but for a combined route it would be the 40/41/42/75/76 and 108/109 which run every 5 minutes over most sections of the routes.

Why are you not including the 47/48 route It was shiregreen only for a long time as 150/151 in STD days. The herdings end was covered by 28/43/51.

Why are you not including the 47/48 route Due to the fact that the 47/48 comprises of 2 routes and not 1 route which is what I am after foxydebs ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I suppose we could say that the 41 was a contender too from 2003 until 2007 when it was changed to every 7 - 8 minutes when it was extended to Royal Hallamshire Hospital and now it comprises of the 40 & 42 routes also. Did the old 56 to Rossington in Doncaster use to run every 5 minutes on it's own as well?

So why did captainsharpe mention the 41 and the 42, as they are two routes not one.
Also the combined frequency is every 6 mins and the single frequency is every 12 mins. Unless it is the school summer holidays when it is slightly altered.

I doubt it; combined with the 55 perhaps. 55/55B/56/56B - 4 routes.

First thing I thought when I saw this thread was the 55 - I'm sure when the buses were first branded for that it said every 5 minutes on the side, but it seems to have slipped back to """"about"""" every 8 minutes (or half an hour.... ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) )

Nope, 56 always ran in conjunction with 55/55B/56B, what a confusing set of services that was!!! And, no Ryan, the branding on 55 always said "upto every 7 mins", i don't its ever run any more frequent than that, as a stand alone service anyway. If you go to Rotherham, you may still be able to spot it, they ain't taking some of it off yet! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Its hard to belive now but the 69 at peak was very frequent and busy , I cant remember but in the late 50's / early 60's my elder brother and mother used to go to meet grandad off a 69 when he had finished work. If he wasnt on one bus by the time that had unloaded the next one had arrived and was unloading and the next and the next .

Yeah, agreed 52, 69 and 95 were the big services at one time.
These days, think you can comfortably call it 41/42, 47/48, 52 and 75/76 although as a package - regardless of operator - Ecclesall Road must be in with a shout!
