When and why was the registration of YJ53 VBM a DAF DB250 East Lans Lowlander changed to 1294 RU?
Only noticed this due to the recent Tm Travel fleetlists update, so it must be a recent addition.

It was changed around a month ago, i don't know why it was changed but it was previously owned by a Tm Coach which was sold. I suppose they just wanted to keep the registration!

I want to know why TM Travel sold one B10M/Van Hool (the old 1294RU) only to buy the older K482VVR! And that's after they've sold all their other coaches that age (K-TMT ones etc).

Incidentally, 'RU' was originally a prefix for Dorset registered vehicles!

Many of the older coaches have been retired as T.M. no longer supply coaches for Nova Tours. Nova Tours had previously operated one coach with T.M. supplying the rest. Nova now have a fleet of 7 coaches and run all tours "in house". The fleet of coaches at T.M. is very young and through necessity smaller. There is now a super modern private hire fleet and a growing, dedicated school private hire fleet. The reg. no. from the Van Hool was retained and transfered. The recent acquisition van hool (K482VVR) was purchased for school work due to its (70) seating capacity. A more versatile vehicle than a double decker and although a Volvo, seems to be in fairly good condition. It goes without saying that the Van Hool body is superb. The school private hire market is a very big market due to the national curriculum insisting on minimum numbers of off site visits each year. Demand is always very high during school terms, but obviously low out of these times. Therefore the use of fully or nearly depreciated vehicles is desireable. There has recently been situations where schools have had to bring coahes in from further afield as there were not enough available in the immediate area!
