Does anybody know the History of Mike Groves-I know they ran the 45/46 to from Sheffield to Shiregreen? I think they also used Atlanteans or Fleetlines. Weren't they also bought out by SYPTE?
What type of vehicles did they run and the services.

They ran the 72 (Sheffield - Owlerton - Chapletown - High Green) and the 74 (Sheffield - Lane Top - Chapletown - High Green) too, both well before Sheffield Omnibus.
And the buses carried all over adverts for the Nu Life Window Company IIRC...

The 74 was the Sheffield - Owlerton - Chapletown - High Green service and the 72 was Sheffield - Lane Top - Chapletown - High Green. I used to catch the 74 from Grenoside regularly. One of the drivers told me that Mike Groves was mates with the owner of Nu-Life windows - they came to an agreement that Nu-Life would paint the buses for free as long as it was in their advert. Fair enough. Vehicles that spring to mind are: TCD486J Bristol RE PCH420L " OCW453P " XJA562L Fleetline YNA360M " THM516M " GOG530N " GOG536N " GOG550N " GOG568N " EOF278L " NOB327M " TGX871M " CKC319L " CKC320L " JGF392K " (spares) JPF101K Swift CHN747H S/D Fleetline / Marshall EPM133V AEC Reliance MWK625V Bedford YMT / Caetano (used on services sometimes - even had a ticket machine) The 2 ex Merseyside Fleetlines were quite comical - they retained full Crosville green and their fleetnames were just altered to spell Groves (with a capital C!) I've got some pics (somewhere) I'll try and dig them out. Some here: gallery41664.fotopic.net/c442568.html

I remember Mike Groves Buses. They started immediately after dreg if I recall correctly. Judging by the details above I would think it was a commercial service and in competition with SYT. Did they start other services after the 72/74 or did they only run those two?
