Has anybody else noticed that First's B7's have bad engine noise and sound worse than the older B10BLE's. Yesterday I noticed that 37150's sounds like, when a lollipop is stuck between the spokes of a bicycle. Which other buses sound really bad?
Why do they also sound so bad?

Trouble is when you have engine at the rear cold air has to be forced into engine bay and radiators, and on the Volvo B10M mk3/B10L/B10BLE/B7TL it is the same plastic fan driven by an hydraulic pump powered by a belt off the engine crank. An automatic switch should control how hard the fan has to work to cool the engine down, as you have noticed these always end up sticking on at full power causing the loud Whining noise (train enthuisiasts may have noticed class 58s were the same). The fan itself is not very big in diameter but quite wide so has to turn at a fare rate to do job. B7Ls are belt driven constantly connected to crank via an angle drive and 2 sets of belts so works at one speed regardless of the weather. Cannot keep temperature down on hills. Reason for Editing: missing an ","
