Number 20 followed the 2/59 to meadowhall also south riding when they set up ran the 85 to meadowhall aswell but this went into town first. That's correct. From Stannington went straight down Stannington Road then went onto Bradfield (Where the 201 service used to serve this section) Then onto Herries Road then Barnsley Road passed Nth Gen Hosp through to Firth Park...The allocation were Dart's? Jakerton. The 20 had B6 Dash's & some of the Leyland National's.

The main difference in route to Mainline / First's offering was around the NGH, as suggested the 20 went down Herris Road then up Barnsley Road so served both sides of the hospital, the 2/59 missed the hospital by going down Herris Drive.
Hillsborough wise as suggested the service went up/ down Bradfield Road, was this the last bus service to run on that stretch of road?

Last service to serve Bradfield Road was Stagecoach 201 I believe. There was a Bus stop across from the Jet Petrol Station and around 10 years ago there were a Bus stop near Swan Morton for service 20...There now removed.

The Ecclesfield depot ran the 37 High Green (or did it terminate at Chapletown?) - Meadowhall going via Ecclesfield, Southey Green, Firth Park and Wincobank (briefly). Which was normally operated by the B6 Darts, B6BLEs or the SLF Darts. They also operated the 73 which went the same route but missed Southey Green, Firth Park and Wincobank out by going straight along Wooley Wood Bottom (Green Lane and Ecclesfield Road). They were mainly operated by the older double deckers (Olympians?)if I remember rightly? Am I right in thinking the 37 and 73 was both withdrawn when Stagecoach took over in 2005? I'm quite surprised Stagecoach didn't keep a service operating to Meadowhall. Would have thought that got quite a few passengers. 37 lasted a while under Stagecoach ownership. It did ok for loadings on some stretches/trips and could be almost empty on others. Timetable was very tight too, a slight holdup around Meadowhall and you were playing catch-up for the rest of the duty. It really needed another vehicle putting in to the cycle and a long layover at Meadowhall but doubt the route warranted that extra investment. B6 was the usual allocation. 73 was a good run if you had one of the better Metrobuses. But again was very busy on some trips (Saturdays) and could be dead between Meadowhall and Ecclesfield on others. HTH

74, High Green - Carter Knowl Road, via Grenoside, City. This was a Sheffield Omnibus route,i was on the 74 board from 91 - 99. Some people called it "the cream" board,as everybody, well most wanted to be on it. Some of the buses used originally were un-inspiring to say the least. Some only had 2 gears, and they were found in the neutral position,no joke!! Also some ran to Barnsley Bus Station, which took forever to do on a round trip.very gruelling indeed.

The 78 ran from City (Flat Street) to Meadowhall via West Bar,Owlerton,Wadsley Bridge,Grenoside,Chapeltown and Thorpe Hesley then M1 to M/Hall. Sheffield Omnibus ran it on a hourly service. Some people actually caught it and did the full trip, just for the hell of it.Could have caught the bendi bus and been there a lot quicker though.

The 74 was a new route started by Groves of Greenland Rd almost all their buses were in Nu Life double glazing livery (white bus with orange/green lettering)
