When Stagecoach took over Tracky and GTL in Liverpool Stagecoach transfered some Alexander/B6s over from Liverpool, these were never used I'm guessing they were used for spares

FSY had a tow wagon which was never used.
The PTE olympians 501/2 were very very close to been used for around 3 hours only : the buses had been sent out but the union had agreed to the type been used therefore there was a chance that they would be "backed" I was dragged out of bed at around 8am one morning and told the get them on film before 10am when the union met. They did of course carry on in use
Herman the german for the tram system
Cant think of anything else , although TM have - alledgadly - had a lot of stuff sent from dealers but rejected.
And in the same theme some stuff that came during the PTE hireings in the 1980s was never used

5065 CUB 65Y and 5089 A89 KUM were 2 Bradford Traveller Olympians delivered to Olive grove that didn't come up to scratch and ended up being stripped and sent to PVS. An Alexander Bodied Metrobus new To Kelvin but came from Leicester also went the same way. Not to mention ex Capital Citybus N/C Olympians with 888 reg's and some G-reg Metrobuses all going to Manchester via Olive grove during 2001/2.

Did 31136 ever see service with FSY before moving? Also do 42-47 from this batch also qualify?

The latest was the Solo SR, Optare seemed top think if they left it there long enough they would grow to like it. T.M's answer was short and swift............ they bought a standard slimline one. There have been a great many sent but not bought/ used. Too many to list.

Don't think it did and this batch was always intended to be split between Cherry Row and Olive Grove since they were ordered, it was only 31136 that was not expected, which moved south for Brown route 76 for the Showcase routes in Bristol. This is why 31782 - 31786 were ordered for Sheffield as a replacement for the 6-7 YU52 batch up in Leeds at Cherry Row. Though never understood why they actually came to Sheffield as the 76 was fully converted, can remember them on the 82's for a few months, then they seemed to run onto the 87/97's after that.

Do several thousand Almex ticket machines count? Chris Brooke Taylor ordered them (yes, he is the brother of Tim) but the union in Sheffield rejected them!

Surely if the YU52s were meant for Leeds from the start, they'd have been given Leeds registrations?

YU is Sheffield though, isnt it? With YA-K being Leeds, which is why most new buses to Leeds are YJ, along with the SY ones being YN.

Well YU is Sheffield, and MX is Manchester, which doesn't help!

Why would they change the registrations though? if they are the exact same batch then keep them with the same registrations surely rather than mixing them up. Probably why YU was chosen which is a little odd rather than the usual YN.

Probably why YU was chosen which is a little odd rather than the usual YN. You could say that about any large First order. Why are our 2007 Geminis YNs, when Manchester's are MXs and Leeds's are YJs when they're all from the same order and are pretty much identical, I don't know, but they are - First tend to register their buses locally and I can't see why they wouldn't have done the same with the YU52s if they were always meant for Leeds.
