Which one route (from a terminus into the local town/ city centre) has had the most route numbers since deregulation?
Whilst some (like Crookes terminus - Western Bank - City) have only had the one number, there's some that have had several.
To take southern Sheffield as an example:
Totley terminus - Abbeydale Road - City: 24, 97, 247, 248
Totley Brook - Abbeydale Road - City: 17, 42, 97A, 98
Batemoor - Archer Road - City: 36, 436, 487, 502
Batemoor - Woodseats - City: 40, 41, 72, 72A, 72B, 72X, 75, 501
(There's probably a few others you could add to the above examples)
The only rules are that all such routes must run the same way into the town/ city centre (the 36 and 502 had different routes in central Sheffield, but ran the same way between the terminus and centre), it doesn't matter if they had a different route on the other side of town, and that you count the far terminus (not just "Hillsborough - City" or "Woodseats - City").
Quite a few Rotherham and Doncaster routes gained a new number when they lost their "1XX" number, for example, without changing the actual route.
(to avoid argument, if there are longer distance routes that followed exactly the same route, like 213, 218, X18, X23 in the example of Totley, then count them seperately in brackets afterwards)
(Whilst this is about bus routes, I've put it in the "History" section as it's about older ones)

Can't think of any of the top of my head but I know the Mosborough and Killamarsh network has been messed with quite a lot since deregulation.
Around my local area we have had a few changes over recent years such as the 64 to Charnock and the 51 to Leighton Road then the 64 withdrawn and the 51 to Charnock etc.
Out of interest the 24 to Totley was that the Rotherham to Totley route via Brinsworth and Tinsley or are we talking about another 24 here?

Here's a couple (showing numbers from oldest used to newest) ...
Fulwood - City via Endcliffe -> 33, 88, 86 (could be something else between the 33 and 88, but I can't remember what)
High Storrs - City via Greystones (in that direction) -> 83, 84, 87, 82 City - High Storrs via Greystones (in that direction) -> 83, 87, 81
Yes, Totley - City - Brinsworth/Rotherham

Out of interest the 24 to Totley was that the Rotherham to Totley route via Brinsworth and Tinsley or are we talking about another 24 here? Yes (as JohnS says). As far as I can remember: It was every twenty minutes Totley - Sheffield - Attercliffe - St Lawrence Road - Rotherham (co ordinated with the 69 to give a ten minute service between Sheffield and Rotherham, though the 69 stayed on the main road in Tinsley. The 24 was later diverted from Tinsley via Brinsworth to Catcliffe instead (but it never ran Sheffield - Brinsworth - Rotherham as far as I know - could be wrong!). Brinsworth routes have been chopped and changed several times over the years (the recent "tinkering" is nothing new) - for example there used to be a 124/134 circular from Sheffield - Tinsley - Brinsworth - Catcliffe - Parkway - Sheffield). Plus the Sheafline 424 from Sheffield etc. To give another couple of examples, Sheffield - Manor Park - Woodhouse has been (via Stradbroke) 93, 13/14 (via Fishponds) 21*, 64, 25/ 25A * - the 21 from Hemsworth only ran at peak time east of Fishponds, it was replaced by the Eager Beaver 92 which only ran as far as Fishponds. JohnS: I *think* there was a Sheafline service from Fulwood - City via Endcliffe - was it the 474 or something like that?

I just remember Sheafline (when in SYT ownership) running the 88 as Fulwood - City - Chapeltown with no SYT-proper service. I'm convinced there was some sort of 4XX service, but 474 doesn't ring true. 486 is what I'm thinking, but don't know where it would have gone. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
