Here is the start of my first Dart replicating Fleet no 4000DV Which was painted in Mainline Livery and numbered 4000 to start with then became 500. It was numbered 4000 because when mainline took over Wilfreda Beehive they became Don Valley buses but wore mainline livery. Attachments:

...good luck Gaz - glad you are using the EFE Dart , as it is a lot better model than the 00C Corgi version !! Have you chosen the Mainline paint yet ? - i can recommend Humbrol Hobby Spray no,s 19 Red , and 69 Yellow. They are acrylic aerosols which give a superb finish . 1 can will be enough to do 3-4 models . I always spray the yellow over a white primer first, and then use the Tamiya masking tape to mask off and then apply the red a day after. Any touch ups can be done by spraying a bit of paint in the aerosol lid , and left a few minutes , then use a small brush to apply - hope this helps !

Ho m8 yes i am going to use the Humberol sprays i think is it the same colors for the paint pots? the only thing worrying me by using spray is the weather so cold as i have to spray in my garage. ...a few tips Gaz which should help.., 1 - before painting the bus , warm the model on a radiator for about an hour 2 - i put the aerosol in a jug of hot water (not boiling!) to raise the paint temperature 3 - if the model has to be left in the garage , can it be put near a portable heater ? 4 - the most important tip is to somehow keep both paint and model warm , or else the final paint finish will suffer (ok in summer , but a real pain in winter!) 4 - as for the small Humbrol tins , unfortunately they are not the exact same shade , although carry the same number (shock, horror !) thats why i suggest spraying some paint into the aerosol cap so as to touch up if need be. Another problem to always bear in mind , is that the Humbrol tins are OIL based paints , and will "yellow" on lighter colours after a few months , but not as obvious on the darker shades ! Hope this helps

...i got mine from Hobbycraft (open Sundays !) at Meadowhall Retail Park , although i think most model shops stock it . For a supplier near you , I would give the Netherhall Rd Modelzone a call first , or try Williamsons Model Land shop at 435 Bentley Rd , DN5 9TJ - 01302 875559 Ask for Humbrol Hobby Spray . They come in 150ml cans , which are small , but you could probably do 3 or 4 models per can . ... i also always use Halfords white (for the Mainline liv) or grey primers for a base .

any tips when i mask up because when i take the tape off it always seems to make abit of a mess could it be im taking it off too early transit ...just put the masking on and the rub the back of your fingernail along the main edge , and if the tape goes over any mouldings ect , use the edge of a craft knife to press the tape as close as poss to stop seepage - although you will enevitably get some seeps as it is a liquid afterall ! As for peeling the masking , i always do it around 10 mins after application while the paint is still quite soft , so as to avoid a brittle ,sharp edge - do it slowly and gently emphasising on the main masked edge first and peeling back from that . Try and peel sqaure on to the model as if you peel above the finished edge you may smudge , and if you peel below you could pull the paint down ! ...you can always touch up any blemishes after the paint is thoroughly dry (by spraying some paint into the lid . as mentioned earlier) HTH

...looking great Gaz !!! another tip .... if you are touching up with the yellow paint , make sure you go over the unwanted red bits first with some white primer, to act as an undercoat , as the yellow is very transparent over a dark colour otherwise !! - i am sure you will see what i mean ! Did the masking go ok ? Did you get the decals ok ?
