Just had a great idea after looking on the net ive started to make my own platforms up to now ive done 2 which dont look too bad, ive got the slopes to do and then im thinking about sticking some plasticard on top then painting them or if anyone else has any better ideas please tell, the reason im doing my own is because in total i need about 5 sets of platforms and the hornby ones are quite dear.

I have now come over a problem the size of my layout and im using them sill track clips are causing me some problems with the train running slow and loosing power so looks like im going to have to do a bus wire and put wire dropings to it hopefully will sort it out

Yeah, I'd use a bus pic if I could get it to work!

Looking good Gaz!. Decent length platforms too. Wish I had space for a decent sized layout. Apologies if you have checked it, but : Be careful with the crossover near the end of the platform, may struggle for clearance for trains using it. May scrape into platform?...

Well looks like its defeated me i cant keep the track clean in the garage so looks like im going to have to pack it away and wait a few more years until i get a room spare in the house as the train has virtually stopped running even after loads of cleaning and soldering some new wires to track

Thats a shame, but I can understand why.
The track is a nightmare to keep clean, even covering layout with a sheet or plastic doesnt help.
Encourage partner and/or kids to do the honourable thing, and move out!!.... ;D

A train setup is something I definatley want to do as and when I get the space to do one - probably the era just before privatisation in the late 1980s. Ive a few mk3 carriages in Intercity 'swallow' livery and some track kicking around somewhere to get me started, I'm sure I have. Of course, a pair of Class 43s to go with them would be useful. As a general question, how is the availability of other rolling stock from this era - the likes of 155/156s in 'Sprinter' livery, and the ubiquitious 37s and 47s that used to prowl the SY area at this time?
