Had a run out to Stocksbridge and back on a couple of these today, their first day in service - YN61FXU/Y. Most seemed to be out but there was still at least one 07-reg Solo in use.
I was quite impressed with them, the new Centro-like interior is nice and was pleasantly surprised to hear a Voith gearbox. Did the previous Barnsley and Rawmarsh ones have these or is this the first batch (along with the Chesterfield ones)? I believe it's a fairly new option. However, when a passenger joked that "they've stretched the buses", the driver responded with "they're new ones, they're rubbish" so perhaps not too popular with drivers!
On a side note, is the tram meant to connect seamlessly with the bus? I've never used a Tramlink before - I thought the bus was meant to wait for the tram, but we had I 10 minute wait in the rain when we arrived, and the next tram was here by the time the bus turned up. It seemed well used for off peak though, a well deserved capacity increase.

They should prove to be good, realiable vehicles however, once the teething problems have being sorted.

Thankyou - I listened to a Voith model on Youtube and they do sound fairly similar, other than a bit more Voith scream and less gears obviously. I must have been too busy gawping at the interior to notice!

Well that could explain why YN07 OSD was working the SL service on Monday, once the E200s had hit the streets.

What engines are equipped in the modern day E200? Do Dennis still use the gutless 4 cylinder ISB?

Looks like the E200 can no longer cope with the demand on the tramlinks so they've ordered some E400s ;D flic.kr/p/c1ynPNDo note they ARE NOT for tramlink in Sheffield, posted due to the similarity to the tramlink livery. They are due for a uni contract I believe (not in Sheffield).
