This busy road outside the hospital is closed for one week First currently have no notification of it being closed and no diversions have been planned for 81/82.
If it is closed in both directions this will have major implications for both Mexborough service and DRI shuttle.

Depending on how much of Armthorpe Road is closed. The diversion I would guess would be along Sandringham Road and down Town Moor Avenue.

Buses would be more likely to divert via Sandringham Road and Zetland Road rather than Town Moor Avenue if that were the case, depending on the area of closure. Should it be just outside DRI my guess would be Armthorpe Lane and Thorne Road.

Can the traffic cope with using Armthorpe Lane both ways plus if it was diverted via Sandringham Road then they have the issue of people getting on the hospital bus which won't go near it.
Also Armthorpe Lane may well be part of the digging they may send it up Leger Way and Thorne Road.

I can't imagine it being closed as First have no notification of it being closed and no idea of the diversion.
Is this closure due to the Gas works? A month ago now their were roadworks near Hillcrest Road and the temporary stop was put a few yards away from the current bus stop.

Also Armthorpe Lane may well be part of the digging they may send it up Leger Way and Thorne Road. Armthorpe Lane is often used as a diversion whenever access along Armthorpe Road nearest the hospital has been distrupted in the past, and its coped pretty well and it would only be for a week. In the case that a much wider area is blocked and the 81/82 cannot access the hospital, passangers would have to catch other services such as the 67/68/69/83/84/85/87/88/88A and alight on Thorne Road. If Armthorpe Lane was blocked I would imagine they would send the 81/82 via Zetland Road / Sandringham Road to rejoin at Armthorpe Road, but again it all depends on the nature of the road block. I can't see them closing the entire road off for a whole week. Any work will probably be done in stages, with minor diversions or traffic controlled forms.

It says on the signs "Road closed from 29 Oct - 4 Nov" and it has signs in both directions.

Fair enough I don't catch 81/82 no more as I prefer the Thorne Road routes. So I wouldn't have seen it.
Possibly Armthorpe Lane but recently that road has been closed due to gas works.

I tweeted TSY today and here's my reply.
We currently don't have any details of the diversions for this closure. We'll hopefully get details by sometime early next week.

According to doncaster.gov.uk, the roadworks are between Sunningdale Road and Gates 4 and 5 at DRI.

Still no news of a diversion so either the drivers will get a shock on Monday or it will be Armthorpe Lane - hopefully the police will put out the yellow cones out because there is regularly two lines of parked traffic down there.

Well on Friday I spotted an Ex London ALX 400 which went along Thorne Road and turned left onto Armthorpe Road. Either the driver was making time up because of traffic or the driver was getting used to the diversion route? I'm non the wiser.
I've sent another tweet today to First and no reply yet.

This could possibly confuse passengers on 81/82 this week. Usually First reply to all my tweets and usually plan the diversion route on the website but they haven't. Letting standards slip I see!!
