Dear Members, Monday January 28 2013 will mark a significant date where will will upgrade the forum software on a major overhaul for the 1st time since the forum was launched in February 2013. No posts or members will be lost/affected although it is likely that the forum will be offline for most part of the day between 6pm and 10pm at least. To proceed with the forum overhaul onto new software that is has much increased usability and function. A lot of this effort has been taken from previous comments and feedback, although there will be some noteable changes such as the Chatroom will no longer be integrated with the forum. Although should members wish to retain this on an external site (more than likely the main South Yorkshire Transport website) then we can look into doing this. We will need to be notified however.Given the importance of this upgrade to much advanced and user-friendly software, we are also proposing to remodel the forum on this date to re-order categories and add/delete/merge some boards where we may feel this to be necessary. So we are therefore asking for your comments on what works/what doesn't work and if there is anything you would like to see added to the forum? A few example proposals in the past have been: 1. Merge the Tram & Trains section together, due to the forthcoming implimentation of the tram-trains trial between Rotherham Parkgate and Sheffield. 2. Move the Modellers section from Transport Surgery to Multimedia, retaining its own board in this section. 3. Merge the Roadworks and Disruptions board with the Transport Surgery board. These are just examples of what could be done, but we want to hear from you, the members of the forum. Plus is there anything that you feel we are missing or want to see improved on the forum? If you would like to leave your views on this, you can do so through the usual channels at www.sy-transport.co.uk/contact.htm. You can also leave your feedback on the forum to discuss it with other members at www.forum.sy-transport.co.uk/index.cgi?board=feedback&action=display&thread=18202&page=1. Please note only posts that are constructive towards improving the forum are welcomed.A few print screens of what can be expected from the new forum software is shown below, however this may be subject to further revision prior to release and implementation. Regards, Staff at South Yorkshire Transport

Reminder: This will take place tomorrow evening from approx. 6pm GMT. The forum will be unavailable for most of the evening and at this stage we don't yet have an ETA on how long the upgrade and remodeling works will take, given the sheer size of the forum.
A warning message will be posted around 30 minutes before, so that all postings can be saved and not lost before the closure of the forum into maintenance mode to enable the upgrade to commence.
Regards, South Yorkshire Transport Forum
