Hi all, just wondering where is the best place that's reasonably near Sheffield (and accessible by train or PlusBus) to get an Olympian? I know that here in Sheffield we still have 34090 and 34099 still on the go - indeed the 0840 from Dore was Olympian operated (34099) as it always is. Are there any other routes/departures etc that our 2 Olympians are usually found on? Of course, TM Travel have several ex-Dublin Bus Olympians (both Leyland and Volvo) too, must try and get these some time as well. I know First Devon and Cornwall, as well as Somerset and Avon still have decent fleets of Olympians, but that's way too far to go to get one! I understand First Manchester still have Olympians on the go, but these are in Oldham. Is this correct, and if so, are there certain routes that the Olympians are confined to? And if there is somewhere with Olympians, are they generally confined to Monday-Friday only, or do they work on Saturdays as well? I love Olympians, and I haven't been on an Oly since August last year. They are so reliable, comfortable and fast when in good order. It's such a shame they never made a low floor version of the chassis, as I think the B7TL is heap of rubbish besides an Oly ignoring the accessibility aspect. I've only ever been on what are now ex-Dublin Bus Olympians (all Alexander Belfast RH bodies), and there was an Olympian in Cambridge but it was so long ago I simply don't remember, so I wouldn't mind trying an Olympian with different bodywork. But I'm not going to be fussy, just as long as I know of somewhere that there is a very good chance of getting one. Thank you in advance  . |

You wont get 34090/34099 on anything else other than the 2 272 boards they operate which run in at 15:00 and 16:36 each. They dont go out Saturdays or Sundays.

TM Travel are your best bet. The X30/218/252 see Olympians fairly regularly.
