Got it on good authority that tiger barnsley depot will close In September, only retaining 92 service to be run out of Waterloo...having worked There, I know how inept the management are...anybody can add to this thread, please do.

I thought Tiger had their routes until at least August 2020? Unless Stagecoach are registering them commercially... My understanding is that all tiger work bar the 92 is up for re-tendering in September and Stagecoach will be bidding for it, suggesting that they're not registering it commercially. EDIT: All South Yorkshire work that is.

I know there was some kind of get out clause agreed when they took on the contracts, for 2018...seeing as tiger have made a complete farce of running the mileage, I wouldn't be surprised if it's sypte pulling the plug on them.

Mixed emotions really.
Always found the drivers to be friendlily and knowledgeable given the difficult routes and times.
However the mileage must be incredibly high and the 23/23a service is a jokeshop.
Let's hope somebody takes this route(s) on.

It doesn't sound all that fake:
Stagecoach have won the tenders for Yorkshire Tiger routes 7 (Barnsley - Blacker Hill - Hoyland), 23 (Millhouse Green - Penistone - Stocksbridge), 24 (Barnsley - Penistone - Ingbirchworth) and 72 (Chapeltown - Manvers). The tender for the 203 (Wombwell - Doncaster) passes to Waterson’s, who are withdrawing their commercial service 193 (Barnsley - Wakefield) in July.

I refer to my above post earlier.
It is sort of rubbish that there are around 2 services a day from Stocksbridge to Penistone.
I could always change and wait 30 minutes in Green Moor but I really rather would not.
I do however appreciate that patronage on the old 20A, 23 & 23A was pretty poor.
Always sad when a company has to pull out of certain areas due to cost etc

92s will no doubt be run out of Waterloo (Huddersfield) like what currently takes place on Sundays & Bank Holidays.
Sad news regarding the potential staff redundancies, although Tiger on the whole are short staffed so I'd imagine the Barnsley staff would be able to transfer across to Waterloo. Waterloo are also on better terms and conditions, with pay of £9.70ph compared to £8.40 at Barnsley.
As for the tenders themselves, there were 14 LOTs awarded in this round - majority been school work in Doncaster/Sheffield with just the 638 in Rotherham. Also a few late evening trips on the 22X between Wath and Barnsley (Rotherham end is commercial due to 22A/22C) and the 25 between Sheffield and Woodhouse. As already listed above, the majority has been won by Stagecoach, with Powells picking up the school work and Watersons picking up the 203.

Other month ago MD of Yorkshire Tiger made a statement saying along the lines of “our tenders are up for renewal, and we are not closing Barnsley” etc.....
I personally can not see the Wombwell depot in staying open from September if they’ve lost just about all of the routes. I would imagine the 92 will be operated by Waterloo depot.

Said I had it on good authority...it WILL close...staff have been informed already. I reckon the problem here is that they went in too cheap to get a base to build on then First and Stagecoach got very scared and put in even lower bids and the old trick of finding routes suddenly becoming viable when they lose out on tenders, to "see them off". With the original bids being low, the operation would be borderline profitable so it was decided to retrench until more favourable terms or routes present themselves. I can also foresee a situation where Tiger Blue move in to the main depot at Huddersfield as I am sure it would all fit. Challenging times for operators with PTE's fleecing them, ENCTS revenue not covering the cost of carrying the passholders, and rising costs on top. One thing I am pretty sure of is that we have not heard the last of Yorkshire Tiger in South Yorkshire.

Having first hand experience ill tell you the issues...
Rushed vehicle purchases, which led to crippling reliability issues.
Recruitment of sub standard drivers due to low wages.
Management with ZERO experience of area or the ever dodgy sypte.
Poor technology, unable to record some passes or take contactless payments.
Poor parts and fitter availability, leading to lengthy vor's
Poor route knowledge and training.
Non existent advertising on routes, and inability to stick to timetables.
Massive amounts of lost mileage.
Staff turnover horrendous.
There are other issues, I tried to help, with area knowledge, advertising and training, but the management are so clueless when it comes to South York's, it was always a losing battle.
They will never come back to South Yorkshire....i very much doubt wether stagecoach were worried, they just want to destroy competition, even if they make a loss, or leave passengers without a service.
