SYPTE's ongoing track renewals project continues in 2020 from the 4th May. This year the Halfway/Herdings corridor is the one affected by this investment in the system. Area 1 works, which is expected to take until 5th June, sees work taking place to remove old worn out rail and install the brand new rail around Hackenthorpe and Donetsk Way. - Blue route trams will run between Malin Bridge, City Centre and Birley Lane to a revised version of the current Coronavirus timetable. - Purple route trams will run between Cathedral and Herdings Park as normal but to an amended timetable in order to co-ordinate with the Blue route between Gleadless and the City Centre wherever possible. - Yellow route and Tram Train are not affected. Supertram services will not operate between Birley Lane and Halfway. Alternative Stagecoach buses such as the 7, 80a and 120 will accept valid tram tickets between Halfway, Crystal Peaks, Birley Moor and the City Centre. See www.stagecoachbus.com/news/yorkshire/2020/april/supertram-rail-replacement-may-to-june-2020 for revised timetables.

Good grief, considering Stagecoach run the tram network, that's a shock to me. I would have thought they would have run it without the need for a tender. You learn something new everyday!

So you think they should just be awarded the work because they run the trams? thats our money they are spending so I am happy to see them being careful. As a plus it will probably provide some entertainment.

I would have thought that any tram replacement work would have been operated by Stagecoach commercially, but clearly this isn't correct! Entertainment, I hope Powles don't run short of buses and drivers! They are only a small operator. Although they seem to have taken over from TM travel as the tendered operator. Watch this space. All the best to them, they went through the process and won!

Rail Replacement AREA 3 works are delayed by approx. 2 weeks. They will now run until 14 September, with AREA 4 works commencing from 15 September until 4 October provisionally. This will see services running Malin Bridge - Donetsk Way only, during AREA 4.

Is it possible they may operate to Crystal Peaks and run wrong line. It is possible as its been done before, but it maybe that its logistically easier to only go to Donetsk Way

Is it possible they may operate to Crystal Peaks and run wrong line. I'd guess not - remember one of the road crossings around Peaks is one of the areas being worked on, and for that the overhead needs to be isolated - the nearest SI is just past the foot crossing at the outbound end of Moss Way, and at the inbound end of Beighton - so the overhead at Peaks would need to be isolated meaning that you'd be unable to run trams past Moss Way.

Understand that a number of Volvo B7TLs are on their way down from Slatyford (Newcastle) depot down to Holbrook this weekend, to operate the BL2 and forthcoming BL3 services.
Understood these are:
SN56 AEU/V/W/X/Z/AFA/AYE
Also of note, due to further rail replacement works taking place, a special Y1 City to Middlewood service will be provided by Powell’s on Sunday 20 and 27 September. This is due to rail replacement work taking place around West Street and Hillsborough.
