I'd like to think it'd be an extra stop rather than making any prospective passengers on the tram who are visiting Parkgate having to walk all the way back the way they've just come.

Passengers visiting Parkgate? After the initial Novelty period that just does not happen. Why would people pass other similar retail parks to go to this one? Answer: They don't. It gets used by tram fanatics as a means of dumping their cars and going to Sheffield shopping and little else. [ based on my frequent observations].

I get sick of saying this, the Parkgate route was chosen for its ease to test trams on a heavy rail line not the potential of the route. It seems to me that loadings on the trams in general are increasing much quicker than on the buses which is reflected in the tram timetables returning to pre lockdown levels.

You've not seen any 120s on a 6 minute frequency yet then?. There's busy, then there's bus busy.

My frequent observations are more regular and there are quite a few commuters who use the tram train-regulars. There are shoppers going to parkgate, yes I admit there needs to be more, but it needs to be built up. Personally it would be nice if it was an extra stop, but perhaps it would be too close together for the heavy rail side

You'd think so given the distance, but given the lack of mention regarding the previous stop it does remain questionable. Maybe now is the right time to also look at providing a fully integrated transport hub at Parkgate, with potential for heavy rail too.
