Not sure I can find a thread about this yet. But looks like construction work is well underway for the new one-way bus gate on Arundel Gate northbound. Can only be a good thing for buses along there. Got this picture around lunchtime today. Fresh paint! Edit: it doesn't seem to want to post the picture directly. imgur.com/gallery/mhASYF8

I wasn't aware of that. I think access is still going to be allowed southbound? So it's not totally cut off. Operators should lobby the council to allow their ancillary vehicles through bus gates though. Seems daft that they're not already

Engineering vans and recovery trucks will be classified as authorised vehicles I was reading about it in Sheffield Star and it said uses and authorised vehicles to be able to use the bus gate

Be like North Bridge in Donny inbound. A bus conks out @ bus stop @ town side & it's form an orderly queue of parked buses until u/s bus is moved. With lots of irate passengers stuck in Frenchgate interchange unable to go north side of town.😁😁

Well one things for sure, if Sparrow refuse to come down because of this risk of a fine, buses will stop using Arundel gate, the council will soon buck their ideas up then! One thing I would like to know is, why is Sheffield council so anti car when the bus network is nowhere near up to scratch? Services are missing, unreliable, and driver shortages at some depots are chronic. Surly the numptys understand that you cannot have it both ways, and that the bus network needs to be first class to encourage use? As it is we could loose more services from July. All that will happen is people will shop at Meadowhall, and the city centre will continue to dig it's own grave. I am all for encouraging air quality, but to do that the alternative infrastructure must be in place.
