I loved those days, back when the evening trade was busy enough for operators to compete (Sheffield Omnibus running the 52 to Crookes every ten minutes despite not providing a daytime service… Bus Zero along Ecclesall Road… The scrum of people outside Roxy heading to a fairly comprehensive Night Bus network), Nightclubs competing for punters by putting on their own services… Would be fascinating to revisit And unthinkable if your only experience of services after teatime is today’s skeleton service where routes that sustain a frequent daytime operation can barely sustain a half hourly one after dusk |
