Route 77 Rotherham-Clayfied (Stagecoach Yorkshire)
The 77 route is one of the busiest routes between rotherham and clayfield (mexborough) it generally runs with volvo low floor busses and runs to a timetable of every 30 minutes daytime service but at 7pm and all day sundays it changes to service 77a which runs every hour and just does not serve clayfield estate that's the only difference it is operated by Stagecoach in Yorkshire.
This service does not operate anymore please see services 79/288/289 for replacemnt services

I used to use this route regularly when I lived in Mexborough and yes it did run late on a lot of ocassions, one of the days my dad was driving this service I was going to Rotherham, so decided to get his bus and I can see why it runs late as my dad showed me the timings for it and with the amount of traffic it was virtually impossible to run it to time. So Im guessing that when they did the timings for it they did it at a quieter time of day and didnt stop to pick passengers up.
As far as I can remember first have never ran any of the services in Mexborough

when did powells run it as I lived in Mexborough most my life, on the clayfields estate and the only poweels service I can remember is the 397 and cant remember any first services so it must have been about 15 or 20 years since. I remember when tracky run the 217, 295, 296, 297 and 298. Then I remember powells running the 397 every half an hour apart from scvhooltimes as they were used for schoolbuses

and tracky ran 295/6/7/8 and 217/8 and a 396

I know tracky ran all them as in my dads 2o years with the company he drove all those services, just could never recollect seeing first run a service on the clayfield estate

asked the man in the know (my dad), first did run the 298 but he says they didnt run it very long mn when tracky run it, it used to run through conisbrough, denaby, along doncaster road, up adwick road, round the highwoods estate and then go down to hartley street
