Service 97,97a is part of first's overground network it is the claret line and runes every 15 minutes on the 97 route and the 97a route but on a combined frequency from southey green to Millhouses of every 8 minutes in the daytime and every 15 minutes at night and sundays. the 97a in the evenings and sundays only runs from totley brook to the city centre only so the south west section is every 15 minutes but the north section only runs every half an hour.

The service runs through the following places,

Ecclesfield (97) - southey green (97,97a) - pitsmoor - city centre - London road - abbeydale - millhouses - totley brook (97a) - totley (97)
