Just a few thing i can spot on the Barnsley maps Sam is on the 68/68a/69 routes you have it going Pearson crescent - Barley sheaf hotel - Aldham house when it should be. Pearson crescent - Aldham lane house - Barley sheaf. As the service turns onto Summer lane straight opposite the Barley sheaf hotel. And it looks like (to a normal passenger) that service 64/66 does not serve jump, but it does on church street. so a passenger looking at buses to jump would think they only have the hourly 67 service, when they also have the every 8 mins service 66 as well.

Thanks for the comments guys. Suttoncoactguard the 205 is not added onto the maps as it is an infrequent route and does not operate to the criteria of the maps "Every 15 minutes Monday to Friday peak times." I will keep this open though as I may incorporate it into the Pink Line (route 55). I'm currently looking at creating a new route in Doncaster for services 25 and 91 between Doncaster and Bessacarr. Just struggling to decide which route colour to create this route at the minute Siy2007 those corrections have now been implemented and are now live on the Barnsley Network Map. Also something which I have only just picked up myself was the 52a runs direct via Wakefield Road to Athersley South and not around the Honeywell estate, so this has also now been corrected on the Barnsley map. The maps need to be saved and uploaded in PDF, that way you can have it fitting to screen or play/move the map about as you want.
Route colours should also be universal, makes it easier to read on different maps. For example on the Rotherham map the Brinsworth services are salmony in colour but on the Sheffield one the same services are blue. Similar the Dearne Valley routes use different colours on the respective maps.
On the Sheffield map the 53 and 83 use very similar colours so around Parson Cross/Ecclesfield they are virtually the same. Around Darfield on the Barnsley map very different service use almost identical colours.
I hope you dont mind these comments, I work on things like this all day at work.

Maltaboy, thanks for the comments regarding the maps. Firstly I have tried doing it with PDF although the quality is shocking with the text as sadly for some reason it saves the text as a bitmap object rather than keeping the text as a separate object and allowing you to select this in the PDF file. Sadly I have no idea how to change this and have a feeling it will result in me having to start a brand new map from scratch using an alternative piece of software such as Illustrator / In design or Photoshop rather than Fireworks. I will look into this and it will probably go ahead in the next few months, as I did this last time around when I first brought the maps out. Regarding the route colours I do agree, though it can become a bit tricky at times but will try and get this done, the change to the Salmon line in Sheffield should be straight forward and the Light Blue of the 32/33 routes on the Sheffield map will match the route branding of the 43 branding. Dearne Valley was a little more tricky, though this could be changed to a new route colour on both maps. Regarding the Light Brown / Dark Brown in Sheffield and Light Purple / Dark Purple in Sheffield, I created this as they follow almost the same main corridors and service the same areas, I thought this would have gone down well, a little like keeping certain numbers for a selected corridor. I will look further into this and see what I can come up with. I think they stand out well both from each other though, even though they are slightly the same colour. I will get to work on these over the next few weeks, though will probably leave the line colour changes until the summer when the major changes are apparently coming in according to The Star. Not at all Maltaboy, the more comments the better as far as I'm concerned, I know I will never get them perfect, but they are looking fab so far, if you don't mind me saying so (not wanting to sound biased .) Ta, Sam

Maltaboy/All, I've uploaded the Doncaster Map as a PDF file also, which can be viewed here - www.info.sy-transport.co.uk/maps/doncaster.pdfLet me know what you think and whether it is worth keeping it as a PDF file due to the quality, which personally I find is rather poor as the text is all squashed up and blurred. Not bad at all. It is slightly blodgy when you zoom in.
I would however suggest using illustrator its a great package.

Sam,
I don't know if you are aware, but you can get a free programme called Primo PDF, which effectively adds a PDF generator as a printer, enabling you to "print" PDF files in whatever quality you want. I have used this for A3 printed posters and there is no loss of quality whatsoever! Highly recommended unless you already use this! If you print it as "Prepress", or even any other setting, it preserves the original image quality.

I actually really like them, nice, clear and well presented, much better than what any operators or our Passenger Transport Executive produces. I also find the Rotherham map much easier to read than the similar Rotherham Overground map by First South Yorkshire. It also gives much more detailed information on the local districts and what each road / landmarks or public house en route is. Can't see any mistakes on my routes towards Aston or the services through Moorgate.

Just got to try and get used to Illustrator now. I'm told that Fireworks CS4 now has a export to PDF option added to it too.
Ryan, I will give that a try later on tonight.

I have been listening to comments posted on here and feedback from non members who have accessed the Maps website and have made the following improvements to the Doncaster Map. Let me know what you think. Firstly I have included routes 52,64 and 64a to the Doncaster Map and these form part of the Mauve Line (52) and Turquoise Line (64,64a) respectfully. Secondly, routes 13,14,18 and 18a have come part of their own colour group, meaning that route 15 and route 16 are now stand alone once again on the map. Thirdly routes 19,19a and 22 have become the new Orange Line and service 16 has become the new Green line. I have also colour coordinated all the route numbers on the map, to make it easier to follow on the new map. There are also some other changes, such as new rounded bus stop icons and the arrows on circular sections have now become bus stops located on the map, which I personally prefer. Let me know what you think to this new updated map. NEW! Doncaster Network Map - www.info.sy-transport.co.uk/maps/doncaster_new.htmTa, Sam

I have now made a start on updating the Rotherham map.
So far the changes are,
Lime Line - I have now added a the limited journeys on service 34 which divert to call at Rotherham Hospital in the Broom Valley.
New Purple Line - This replaces the old Light Turqouise Line to stop confusion between the Light & Normal versions. Services 220,221 and 229 are still the Turqouise Line. Puprle Line services are services 6, 66 and X12.
New Silver Line - This replaces the old Light Purple Line and still remains for services 21,23,25 and 27.
Let me know if you have any more suggestions on how I can improve the Rotherham Network Map over the next week or so.
Ta, Sam

For the Doncaster map, may I suggest swapping the green and orange coloured lines around, that way, they'd match the Overground colours. Not anything vital, of course! Just a thought as everything else seems to be fine.
