None of the Fotopic sites I have bookmarked have worked for two days now. Oh dear, having survived one near terminal business collapse, it looks like it's going the same way again. The buy prints function has been removed for months now, surely the best source of revenue they had.

I think the problem is, if they do come back on, then who is going to bother with them, as my friends says, he has already changed to a new host, so they are losing business like mad.

The Buy Print revenue belonged to, and controlled by the fotopic user, they might have earned a little from it, but most went to the user.
I know I am considering taking my collections elsewhere, been pricing up flickr and it is a lot better value for money, and doesn't seem to have problems like fotopic.
As mentioned, this is the second time something like this has happened, so it is likely it could re-open, as nothing official has been released to the public as of yet, or not that I've seen.
Thanks.

I have been waiting for monies owed to me since August last year!!!

Yes, my friend has 50,000+ uploaded with them, but as he said they are backed up 3 times, so he is just uploading to a new host. As he said this happen 2 years ago and as he has pointed out, he his losing money while it is off line. I am glad i only put mine on Photobucket, but saying that, i never sell any of my photo, i just give a copy away to anyone who wants one, it is just a hobby to me.

I only use fotopic to host the photos to upload them to another site would take years..just the same for your friend.

If you have access to your own server etc, you can use an application that is similar to Fotopic, just that you will need to set everything up yourself and make sure you have enough space etc to host your photos.

Apparently the 'buy prints' button was disabled as there was such a back log or orders and that Leeds trading standards was investigating several complaints, i stress these are rumours but it may be worth you contacting trading standards if you are owed money, becase the chances are the poor people who bought copies of your images are also still waiting.

The earlier comment placed on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fotopic.net that read: "As of March 2011 it looks like Fotopic has ceased operating with the site down, the e-mail not working and even the parent groups sites unavailable. There has been no official comment from the company & it is likely there never will be."...... has now been replaced by "As of March 2011, the servers are currently down and the future of Fotopic is unclear". Read into that what you will!

If you have not them up yourself, it seem the answer to that is Yes. I have been telling all my members to make sure they back everything up, but for some , like yourself, the simple answer is yes.
