I'm hoping that Fotopic makes a return again, as its so much easier to navigate through etc, than what Flickr is. You don't realise how good the website actually is (or was) until its gone.

Still specualtion about fotopic. Ive rung trading standards cant find the administrators. Thats interesting, did trading standards offer any hope? Theres been alot of talk that IF Fotopic has gone bust, which again no one seems to know for sure, the possability of the administrators allowing gallery owners who have paid there subcriptions to retrieve there images/captions etc.

Thats what im trying to find out. I rung trading standards they said fotopic has gone into liquidation. Ive rung the liquidators they said they have dealt with fotopic 2 yrs ago not since then. So ive drawn a blank. Ive rung the head office at wakey noone answering. Knowing this would happen. Why didnt fotopic say they were in trouble and to say get your things off before shutdown?

Fotopic went into administration/liqudination (I cannot remember which) arund three years ago. This is when the business was sold to Snappy Designs.

According to what ive read else where, the majority of things at Fotopic in Wakey were moved down south in 2009, this is apparently why there was downtime then, so the plot thickens. Did trading standards say whether they were investigating or not. I spoke to someone from Leeds trading standards on Friday and he said at that time although they had received compliants it was too early to act as the website may simply be 'down'. Im surprised its not been picked up by one of the national papers yet given as it seems alot of people both in the UK and abroad have lost out financially.

For goodness sake theres no official word thay have gone into administration/liquidation so why would the meida publish something that isn't fact. If indeed they have gone into administration/liquidation then why would the media comment on this as its a little known company and people have only lost out on a few pound not hundreds of thousands??

For goodness sake! I think you underestimate how big fotopic actually was/is. And yes i agree, Fotopic might be simply down but why the silence? It takes nothing to email gallery owners or at the very least posted a message on there Facebook page. And i think its more like thousands of pounds not hundreds. As ive mentioned previously a friend of mine who has over 10 seperate Fotopic galleries had only just re-subscribed at a cost of over £1000, not to mention the fact the down time is costing him money in lost orders. When you consider how many gallery owners have lost money through subcritions and not been able to claim money owed through sold prints, plus the amount of people that bought prints through sites and never recieved them it adds up to a pretty penny im sure. And yes, Fotopic might come back in a few days/weeks but what if it dosen't, and dosen't the fact that it is so hard to contact the owners of the site or find out anything about it worry you, becuase it does me.

Your friend has clearly been ripped off then!! For one year the cost is only £60 so if he has 10 galleries that's only £600. A lot of money maybe but no where near the £1000 you quote!! As for him needing 10 different galleries he could have saved himself £540 as with a premium account you have many more than 10 galleries. As for the silence, agreed it's a pain but as no one knows the reasons why it's not working let's not jump to conclusions. For all we know it could be so badly broken they cannot send an email out to users. When we had the problems previously nothing was said but as soon as problems were fixed an apology was issued and for those paying to use the service a goodwill gesture was also given.

I dont know the ins and outs of his business, im only repeating what he told me, hes part of a group of 6 photographers who havd a serious amount of photo's displayed, he may be overdoing it slightly but thats what he told me, but he normally deals with 20 - 30 orders a week for images from his sites, and is also loosing money as he's not going receive orders if people carn't see the images. Things may be broken but there never that bad, surly someone involved can get access to the web and post a message on there Facebook page, or at the very least answer the phone. Its simply the poorest of poor quality to treat there customers in this way, and like ive said i hope it returns, but get the feeling its gone for good.

I know a lot of my friends have resigned themself it has gone for good and started setting up with other companies. So if it does come back, they are going to have lost a lot of business.
Plus i have noticed it is hitting some other website, were member are asking, can they trust proboard site to stay. I know my members have been asking me, as they have photo's on there.
The silence really is hurting people at the moment.

From what I have noticed in the past week or so, everyone seems to be moving across to Flickr. Just do a search for either Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield in there and click on the 'Recent' tab and you'll see all the new galleries that are setting up on there.
