I know I have griped about this in the past and have seemingly been ignored, but can people please post registration numbers for vehicles they're posting about rather than just fleetnumbers? This wasn't such a problem when you could put the fleetnumber into Fotopic, but with that down and Flickr/Google just bringing up a load of rubbish when you search for fleetnumbers, some posts make no sense unless you've memorised the whole list of fleetnumbers, whereas posting the reg allows you to get the age and the batch much more easily.

I brought this up a few years ago...
It is a faff to continuously keep switching back and forth to the fleetlist though. It's got to the stage where I now don't bother reading anything with a fleet number in it - like 3jm I'm fine with registrations, but tell me that 39482 (made up) has been spotted on the M1 and I wouldn't have a clue. For those that are averse to using registrations, please at least put the type of bus so we non-number folk at least have a clue what you're on about!

I agree with you on this 3jm, it is sometimes hard to tell if people are on about first buses or stagecoach buses sometimes.

At least with railway numbers you know that (for instance) 90019 is a Class 90, etc.

That's an option with SY vehicles, but what has thrown me recently is plates of the Tridents due for First and cascaded Darts at Stagecoach Barnsley which I haven't been able to track down from fleetnumbers alone.

At least with railway numbers you know that (for instance) 90019 is a Class 90, etc. But try and search for a bus that's 37xxx and you get nothing but train photos!

I do, where possible, write down which vehicle and operator EG. FSY Olympian 34214
However, I use fleet numbers because there are around five of them on a bus whereas there are only two registration plates. The only time I don't use fleet numbers is simply when there are no visible fleet numbers (eg. on Veolia) and even then I only write down the last three letters (Eg. Veolia HZA).
For the buses I don't know I use the fleetlist. It's not difficult to press ALT+TAB, then CTRL+F, insert fleetnumber and press ENTER. After a while the numbers stick in your head anyway.
I think more of a nuisance is people posting in the misallocation thread with things like Olympian on the 66 Rotherham - Sheffield but with no times. If that were say the 1312 departure from Rotherham then that'd be a misallocation whereas if it was on the 0630 departure then that would be scheduled.

My only worry with this is time. People on here only have so much time and adding this and that, people may just say forget it. Over the last month i have notice, there is less and less people putting thing on here, i don't know if it is just time or they are fed up. Perhap we need a re-think into to working out how to get people involved?.
