yep, where I said it was across the main road towards Norton, opposite Dexters Carpets, causing the road to be closed. Its on the inbound line at Gleadless Town End holding area-there is Yellow markings on the road, where the works are going to take place. Blues and Purples will run to Gleadless Town-End and then buses will take over to Herdings and Birley Lane, with Trams running Halfway to Birley Lane. www.supertram.com/uploads/whitelaneengtimetableAug11v3.pdf

Something that does seem to have been prevalent this time around is how many more people have been using the 120 as opposed to the tram replacement buses with these ongoing works.

Thats understandable-its easier than changing from tram to bus, back to tram again.

They will probably put another Optare Solo on the Herdings Shuttle again. When ever there is track replacement work on, the service doesn't seem to get used that well - people tend to just catch the 47/48 instead. Less messing about that way with a change of buses/trams at Gleadless Townend.

Thanks for the heads up about this week, will just be easier to get the bus into town rather than having to travel by tram to Gleadless and then transferring onto another bus on the replacement service.

I have been informed that there is some more Track works on White Lane in September-I believe this is the one towards Halfway outside the Vets and next year there will be 17 weekends of trackworks-some more opportunities to photograph buses on Tram Replacement

Today tram replacements are running between Gleadless Townend and Birley Lane, and Gleadless Townend and Herdings Park. Holbrook are running the services with two Spryte Darts (from what I've seen)

if anybody goes up to Gleadless Town-End this evening, they will see the long layover for Purples and tram movements:- During the day, when Purples were going to Meadowhall and Blues to Malin Bridge, the Trams were across the points straight into the Inbound Platform of Gleadless Town-End. In early Morning/Evening when Purples were only going to Cathedral the Purples went into the Outbound Platform of Gleadless Town-End, waited for the Blue to come into the Inbound Platform and leave then the purple went back down over the points and then into the Inbound Platform. I think thats the best way to describe it.

And they haven't half been full! Replacing trams with 88 seats and 155 standing capacity, with Darts with 39 seats and about 10 standing is not a good idea particularly on a bank holiday.
