Not a full answer, but when they took on the connect, a driver told me it made sense for them to run that out of their current depot. I suppose if you terminate at Penistone or Chapeltown you are at least in the right direction. They may now want to open a satellite depot as they grow, but not sure on that one.

Service 58 runs dead to start at Wharncliffe side to Hillsborough which interworks with M92 Hillsborough Harley. Sheffield City connect are also interwork with Bradfield schools so run dead from depot do morning school runs then to city centre then afternoon school runs.

Also to add the first journey on 29 to sheffield leaves Penistone at 0710 then does a 0815 to Holmfirth which is the only trip from sheffield so would image this be a dead run to start at Penistone

Thats true guys thank you.for the responses, I guess you are right it's not far away from penistone to Honley and I it would make sense for the 0710 fro Chapeltown to sheffield do the 0815 to Holmfirth however, if I remember correctly tm used to use a different bus for the 0830 to Holmfirth amd the 0710 from Chapeltown used to work onto something else I believe

Still based at Honley. No indication of any new depot and isn't really required.
Sheffield Connect will be re-tendered later on in the year with brand new electric E200MMCs provided on a lease by SYMCA. More details will be known closer to the time - but new vehicles are due in January 2024 so I expect new documentation and tender guidance to be released imminently.

I Believe the 29 service to Holmfirth departs Sheffield at 0825 not 0815 and this doesn't run off a regular service and is the first service run for this bus. All irrelevant soon of course and I assume South Pennine will run the 0825 service off the 29 coming in from the 0710 Penistone service. Edit Looking at the 29 timetable it might not be as I've just said above for South Pennine as I think it could be an issue for driving hours unless there's a driver change on the service before the break in Holmfirth at 12:38. Maybe the 0710 what arrives in Sheffield at 0816 will run onto one of their other Routes in Sheffield Maybe 44 at Chapeltown or 58 at Wharncliffe Side.

I know the 58/M92 interwork but the 29 service into Sheffield at 0816 could run to Wharncliffe Side to do the 0909 58 service then stay on the 58/M92 work. I suppose time will tell but will be harder to find out as South Pennine buses don't appear on Bustimes website so can't easily find what services are interworked.

I agree but just realised south pennine are taking the 201 over to stocksbridge so wonder whether they might work the 0710 to sheff then empty back to Chapeltown but then u would have two buses running the same route one dead amd one on the 0825 29 to Holmfirth as well

They will have to find somewhere local to keep at least the electric buses, then. Assuming they win the tender which I can't see happening. But who else would be interested?

If I remember correctly part of the ZEBRA funding for the electric buses on Sheffield Connect includes providing charging facilities at Sheffield Interchange, so as long as they can get there from the depot in the first place it shouldn't be a big deal. It would be sensible to have some sort of back up facility in the depot though! The only bus depot in the area that we know will have electric charging infrastructure will be Stagecoach's Rawmarsh depot, who will be running electric buses from Rotherham to Barnsley and Doncaster, again thanks to SYMCA's successful bid for ZEBRA funding.

Should just stick to diesel, much easier and more reliable.
