My money is on them taking over the 61 Bradfield circular. I can see them honestly taking on quite a few routes and wish them the best of luck

Should just stick to diesel, much easier and more reliable. Whilst we’re at it, let’s go back to a steam engine. Failing that we can always use horses? I don’t understand the hatred and scepticism for electric vehicles, namely buses - there are numerous examples of this working well all over the world. While the overall climate benefit is arguable, there is a definite case for improving air quality and the associated diseases caused by pollutants.

Anybody running Euro 6 Diesel buses know only too well that easier and reliable are not words you'd associate with them. Follow a Daimler powered Wright product during a regen when it is burning off all the collected particles, cooling fans on full bore and fumes billowing out. The exhaust system on Stagecoachs new MMCs is bigger than the engine.

I expect South Pennine will be looking to take on new routes when Brightside opens. I already said I reckon they are eyeing up the 61 Bradfield tendered work. But I do think there are a few commercial routes they may want to tap in to. For example, they could run a combination of the old route 17 (which was very popular), the route number 2 (very popular with Crosspool residents) and have a bus going Interchange, Nile Street, Lydgate Lane, Rivelin Post Office, Hillsborough, Fox Hill, Parson Cross & Meadowhall, linking all of these places with the Hallamshire Hospital too. They are perfectly located for Meadowhall, being over the road in Brightside. Another incarnation of the 93 going from Meadowhall to Darnall and Woodthorpe, Woodhouse would be worth a shot too, atleast on a trial basis.

I'm impressed with their growth so far, but how are South Pennine attracting drivers when everyone else is struggling?
Is it the lack of evening/ Sunday work that makes them more attractive?

Possibly but it could also be down to 'the soft package'. If the management are supportive and willing to listen to staff, it goes a long way in gaining a good reputation amongst employees. The clientele on the routes SP have in Sheffield tend to be senior citizens, using passes who are unlikely to give the driver any grief and obviously the connect service is free so no problems with enforcing Revenue Protection there.

I can't really put into words the atmosphere and culture you get at the big firms and the stuff that goes off out on the road. Being less of a robot and a bit more freedom can be a big draw over wages.

Treatment of staff at the big groups is generally dire. Smaller companies tend to treat staff far better as they know you on a more personal level.
