I remember thinking that the old 81/2/3/4 went to Meadowhall because no-one ever seemed to change those!

When they weren't heading for Meadowhall or City Centre, they were sure to be heading for "Day Returns Available". Always was a very popular via point.

There are a few interesting points on First Rotherham blinds that I've seen including the likes of Barnsley, villages such as Kiveton Park, Todwick, Harthill, South Anston (which is now used again on the 88) and right at the end of the roll is Worksop, Westfield, Halfway, Beighton, Sothall. I recall them all having services in the past but a nice spot nonetheless.

Barnsley on Rotherham blinds isn't really surprising. It is only relatively recently (2 and half years) that they have stopped operating the X12 and before that they were joint operating the 227 with YTC.
If Barnsley was on the First Sheffield's vehicles then fair enough as it has been years since they operated in from Sheffield. Back to the old 165 and X32 for that one.

I thought it was longer since they stopped running the X12 but obviously not. Still nice to see them albeit briefly whilst the driver cycles through.

This post has got me thinking back to the days when you would see blinds displaying 'football', 'special', 'duplicate', 'garage', 'circular' etc. How times change!
Would love to see full lists of old blinds showing all destinations from First/Mainline/SYT - remember when Eckington, Meadowgate etc used to be on their blinds. Was Chesterfield ever included on these blinds?

OK. I'll see what I can knock up when I get home. I've got a set of SYT day double deck blinds (the ones that introduced the VIA CITY CENTRE stuff on the bottom blind), and one of the old SYPTE/SCT top blinds (sadly don't have the bottom one).

There was a lost posted on here a while back, of a couple of blinds.
I'm not sure if "Football" is on the blinds any more, I think "Garage" and "Special" are.

The Olympians at OG with blinds can (or could fairly recently) still display "Football" - I've seen it seemingly in error as well as on out-of-service buses (57 Football was one I remember seeing - the modern equivalent being 21 Cedar Drive!). Slightly off topic but it also seems to be prrogrammed into the flipdots, as I saw an ALX400 dsplaying Football when laying over on Flat Street!

Are there no football buses anymore in Sheffield? Shows how long it's been since I went into town on a Saturday!

Thankfully in Doncaster they have been re-introduced recently. Previously, the football hooligans were shoved on the 55/57, which were not duplicated, and ran with SPDs...

Don't forget Tram Replacement - still a commonb destination when Supertram were able to swallow their pride and use the quickest and nearest bus company rather than Chesterfield!
