In Mainline says, fitter Nigel Robinson was sadly crushed and killed at Greenland depot by 622 as he was scooched underneath it, testing the reversing equipment. A cleaner saw the bus parked out of position on the stack and reversed over him. Word is that no one felt comfortable driving the bus at Greenland after that, so it was swapped with 639. I suspect similar swapping has happened with this Stagecoach vehicle. Traditions, Positions?? Some poor bloke died here because of a breakdown in procedure. The Buses are Imateriel. Unless you know what actually went off over that 24 hours and the industry wide changes it fetched about I'd be less inclined to suspect. Nobody was saying that the persons' deaths weren't sad and a tragedy. This is a bus thread so naturally, people will discuss the buses. And I have been told by multiple people what happened with 622 and the facts regarding this Stagecoach vehicle that killed the motorcyclist is that is has changed depots. I'd be inclined not to attack other posters who merely post the facts.

The bus was nosed in waiting fueling and cleaning, the shunter got on and was totally unaware Nigel was under the rear repairing wiring to the number plate lights, the bus was started and reversed over Nigel before he could get out of the way, procedures then was drivers on Unit 52 nosed them into the kerbside and the cleaning team reversed them the opposite way once cycled. This practice was stopped straight away and block stacking introduced as well as the red steering wheel covers denoting the bus was either VOR or being worked on. 622 was not driven again at GR and was transferred to Doncaster with Beaver 373 from Rotherham which had the very next morning killed a Bodymaker on a pit while on MT prep. 2 deaths in less than 24 hours. Very sad times.

15719 used at HK for route learning. In some ways that's probably a good idea. While using an open topper for route learning might seem odd, I guess it does act as good advertising for the service when it returns later this year.
Out of interest, do you know if the two Gold buses which have lost X17 branding are just a temporary thing, or have they decided to de-brand them all in due course? I guess the branding is now somewhat inaccurate as it doesn't mention the extension to Wirksworth and still claims dedicated drivers which hasn't been the case for some time. I'll refrain from commenting on whether they are friendly!
It is good to see them keeping Gold livery however, it's one of the nicest out there and it would be a real shame to lose it, especially considering how bad the official replacement it.

The only two in aware of are 11125 which was never branded before or after it was in jubilee livery, and 11124 which has only just gone back on the road after being off for a while to repair accident damage, hence the repaint. Whether or not it'll be branded again I don't know, but it currently has no vinyls at all so I'd imagine it will at least gain a Stagecoach logo if nothing else.

Reports of 19336 joining the fleet as part open top and joining the peak sightseeing fleet at chesterfield Presumably this frees up the older Trident to be retired or move back from whence it came?
I've not seen any announcements about what is planned for this year, I really hope they are more ambitious and cover more of the Peak District as the route last year was a bit of a disappointment. It doesn't really take advantage of the wonderful scenery on offer to make the most of an open top bus.

The route itself has plenty of potential, as for the Trident more than likely it will remain as a spare just in case but I could be wrong

Reports of 19336 joining the fleet as part open top and joining the peak sightseeing fleet at chesterfield Unaware of any changes, apart from the route of a new positioning trip that will run from Low Edges through Woodseats, down to Abbeydale Road and out to Owler Bar. It won't be starting from Sheffield city centre due to the CAZ. Open topper bus from Low Edges to Woodseats... Saves on the glass round Low Edges I suppose

when are the next service changes happening in chesterfield.. ive read aswell hullys are making some changes to the 80 service sometime in the spring Not an answer, but I miss the days when Stagecoach used to tell us what they were thinking of changing and ask for feedback. It's not often they didn't do it anyway (although the proposal to route the 43 via Newbold was thankfully ditched) but at least we got decent warning of what was planned.
I wonder what Hulleys can have planned. The timetable seems a little too optimistic - fine if everything flows well, but not much recovery time and there are always problems. My wife was trying to catch the 80 last night but it was so late she ended up using the 90 instead. Not helped by DCC not actually putting times and stand details of the Holymoorside-bound 80s up anywhere at New Beetwell Street.
Main issue they are going to have is that relaxing the times would mean adding extra vehicles and they are pretty much up against their PVR. I'd love to see them run peak time X80s right through to Sheffield as I'm sure they'd stack up well against the alternatives - indeed, interworking with the 257 would give a route out towards the uni and hospital that would be of use to many, but again limited resources probably means that's not an option.
Just going right OT for this thread (which is supposed to be about Stagecoach...) I noticed from the recent Notices that Andrews of Tideswell have cancelled a lot (all?) of their school workings. Does anyone know why and who has taken these over?
