A quick heads up for those who have not yet tuned into the local weather forecasts. Rotherham and the rest of South Yorkshire is forecast for up to 5cm of snow on lower ground over Sunday night and into Monday. Met office warning for Yorkshire and the Humber: www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=map. "An area of rain, sleet and hill snow spreading into northwestern Scotland by early Monday is expected to turn increasingly to snow to low levels as it moves southeastwards through the day. Some significant accumulations of around 5 cm of snow are likely over low ground with perhaps 10 cm or more over higher ground.
Icy surfaces will be an additional hazard, particularly during Monday morning.
The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to travel."

Looks like snow and very cold all the way through next week for us. This was the last proper snow we had which only lasted a day, 4th Feb 2012. Video taken on a 51 to show the snow at Lodge Moor before it got really bad, I'm not normally one for videoing bus journeys but did it to show the snow. Click on image to play, it was 60702 by the way

I would take it with a pinch of salt at the moment as the forecasts are for ever changing. If we do indeed get some snow over the weekend I can't see it been that much apart from up Penistone/Stocksbridge way etc. The MetOffice are still uncertain about it too.

From the forecast's I've seen, it's fairly certain that we'll be seeing snow of some sort over Sunday night and into Monday. Not sure how heavy it'll be though!

Driving up the M1 yesterday I noticed all the signs were warning of "Gritting being carried out" and "snow warnings".

It is winter, after all!
In countries where they have snow, regularly, they just get on with it but here....Well, we have forgotten how to deal with it! Back in the 50's when we had snow almost every year schools didn't shut and everyone tried to reach their place of employment. Why was this? Well, we didn't rely on cars but more on public transport and shanks's pony!

It's white and it's cold to the touch and in lots of places they have lots of it in a season called....winter. In the UK though it is a cause for panic ,with a population which has lost the powers to cope with it and with a transport system which isn't designed with it in mind....Spend a few winters in Canada and then you will realise why I make my comments every time we start on the topic!

Taken from the TSY website:...
There are currently no reported problems from the operators within South Yorkshire, aside from some minor running delays on some services.
Exceptions:

First Service 56 (Sheffield) now back on normal route following earlier diversion
TM Service 65 is struggling on some of the roads around Eyam & Stoney Middleton.
Tates Travel services around the Penistone Areas are running normal routes but with delays upto 25mins
