I can't see what they'd be replaced with. South Yorkshire doesn't have the feasibility for new vehicles, that is why the MMCs went to Potteries. The 07 plate B9s still have plenty of power and Wrightbus still having parts should help to keep costs down. Remember some of the Dominators did 25 years service. Either be cascades released by electric buses elsewhere or who knows, FSY may get some EVs… The 67xxxs didn’t leave OG for Potteries because they were “too new” for FSY. Yes some of them have got plenty of power but the fact remains that they are 16 years old and are showing it - nowadays operators want a bus that doesn’t generally spend long off the road for inspection work to be cleared and once it’s gone out you don’t see it until the next inspection. Times have changed since the early 2000s in many ways and buses were built differently in 2007 to what they were in 1981 They should be built to last LONGER in 2007 than 1981. They should be built to last and resist corrosion. Shot blasting the chassis could help perhaps, but I am not claiming to be an engineer! I just think it's a shame for a business that is apparently struggling to turn a profit to keep forking out £280,000 per bus on a new fleet of buses every 15 years or so. I do think that indoor storage at the depots could help prevent corrosion. The top park at Olive Grove seems very exposed to the elements.

It's their depot why would they pay rates? They would just need to pay for the garage to be built on the existing bus park.

Rates on indoor storage?.... It's their depot why would they pay rates? They would just need to pay for the garage to be built on the existing bus park. Any company who owns premises pays annual business rates in the same way a householder pays council tax. The rate paid on a building is vastly higher than that paid on a yard. Hence the move towards outdoor storage.

You’ll probably find it’s their time on the road causing any corrosion not their overnight storage! Salt and grime will always cause issues on a terrain like Sheffield over the course of 10+ years.

62054 63058 and 63060 both themed “Keeping our City Moving”. I did see 63059 the other day but cannot remember whether it’s also been done or not… 63050 is still unbranded.
