I live just off Hardcastle Road on the Severnside, although can not remember the buses back then, although it is Woodhouse, I can see the logic in displaying Strabroke on the blinds.
This went around 20 years back when Bishop Gardens was built and then all buses moved up to Village.
A new bus terminus is going where Tannery Lodge is or so my misses friend Louise as heard, it will be like the Bus Station that was going to be in place at Ecclesfield and should get the go ahead, for those not in the know with Woodhouse, it is the nursing home at the side of the Co - Op at the junction with Stradbroke & Sheffield Road.

Just a few things to clear up before we continue with today's blind.
The main reason why BRINSWORTH was on the top blind, and TOTLEY on the bottom, was because pre 1975, service 287 operated to BRINSWORTH/CANKLOW/HERRINGTHORPE V. ROAD/WHISTON/WICKERSLEY or MALTBY, so it was logical to have all these destinations on the top. The main service 24 used to terminate at TINSLEY (HIGHGATE) hence the reason they are close together.
John is right about HALLAMSHIRE HOSPITAL. This was added from 1982 as service 60 used to terminate alternately at BROOMHILL, Peel Street prior to this.
MARCHWOOD was added to some blinds at Herries. In addition WORTLEY (odd trips on service 73 and 80) and GREENGATES LANE (spot the mistake) were on the Bristol VR blinds.
Digging out my September 1979 PTE imetable, John is quite correct about the turns on service 54 at RIVELIN DAMS. Time can play funny tricks on my mind, you know! If you ever get chance to go to the Norfolk Arms (is it still called this?) the paint for the bus box is still on the floor.
Eckington was on the blinds in Sheffield, as the old 262 (before that 62 & 64 to Chesterfield) were operated by Greenland Garage - Halfway only becoming involved in 1983.
Today's blind is from Rotherham district, dated February 1981.

Notes:
In a previous post, I mentioned the fact that Rotherham crews were informed to leave the side and rear number blinds blank. This I can confirm, so much so, that the new Dominator's that entered service in 1981 from Rotherham had the panels blanked with cream/black paint or pannelled over.
In addition, service 111/112/115 should display CIRCULAR only and service 114 should show DOVEDALE ROAD/CIRCULAR. No other service should display CIRCULAR. Some crews on services 120/129/266/267 however, would use this device in order avoid changing the blinds at the terminus. In the case of the 266/267, this was particularly frowned upon, but if you manage to get hold of a copy of the January 1985 Sheffield/Rotherham tt, just look at the photo on the front, and behind 2269 you can see a 14xx series Fleetline displaying such a display!
Talking of the 1981 Dennis', they never actually acquired these blinds until later. When they were delivered they were equipped with much older blinds in the distinctive 'Curwen Sans' typeface that included such wonder as SHOW and BAR MILLS (instead of TEMPLEBOROUGH)
Turning to the list, it's a pretty comprehensive display. As less destinations were needed in Rotherham, nearly all destinations could be included.
On the top blind can be seen all the East Dene destinations. In later times (post 1986), drivers were instructed to include the destination and CIRCULAR to help the travelling public.
SCHOLES is for the 127 service. This was operated by DD's, despite the paucity of the service. The Kimberworth group includes all the possible varieties for the 139 to 142 group including STUDMOOR ROAD, which despite some searching, can never find being used.
CONANBY is included for short workings on service 277 and for Doncaster service 193 which was worked by some Rotherham duties interworking off service 277/8. This was a rare interwork for a district to district route. BARROW COLLIERY was beyond High Green, and had a somewhat intensive service.
ASDA was always coupled with FREE BUS on the lower blind, and must be one of the first type of workings of this type.
The bottom blind includes some rare destinations, which may never have been shown. IZAL FACTORY was in Chapeltown (and is now a housing estate). The seperate displays for the various Brinsworth destinations make interesting reading, but the THREE MAGPIES HOTEL was very difficult to read.
The VIA OLD DENABY display is weird. I can't think of a PTE route that went there, nor of any proposal to do so. OAKWOOD is now Rotherham Hospital. The inclusion of TINSLEY & WEEDON STREET is also strange, as Rotherham district had no workings to these points. These may have been included in case of loans to Sheffield, as some Sheffield destinations (mainly for service 52 and 95, in addition to CITY) were included on earlier blinds.
Finally, the number of works names are fascinating! SHARDLOWS WORKS was at Blackburn, and were run from service 117 and 118.
Doncaster (also 1981) on Thursday. After that will come some 1983 blinds, some SYT/Mainline ones and finally a Sheffield Transport 'A' (City) blind from 1969.

Forget to mention ULLEY, CHESTERFIED, SWALLOWNEST, BEIGHTON, BARNSLEY and HOYLAND are missing, but as these were mainly operated by sd vehicles at the time, not surprising.

Thank you for that list browncream I can not remember a Eastwood Trading Estate bus, but I know when I was in year 7 at Thrybergh, I remember in Eastwood Trading Estate there was a bus shelter, along with 2 telephone boxes and a post box outside the KP factory on Chesterton Road, although after the bus shelter was constantly vandalised and the CCTV did not work to deter the culprits this was removed along with the telephone boothes and post box, only the road marking saying Bus Stop still remain on the road, I may pop down later on, on my bike and get some photos, but I can remember the Timetable saying 721 I think, I know it was a 7 series number and was only a workers special service. Was the ASDA service the one for the ASDA at Eastwood (also on the Eastwood Trading Estate at the side of this bus stop!) before it moved to Dalton? Surprised any bus journeys ended at Mowbray Gardens, mind you this is currently the terminus of the 15, although the blinds display East Herringthorpe rather than Eastwood or Mowbray Gardens as they do on the bus timetables.

I seem to think it was a 757, but could be wrong as I also seem to remember it being an un-numbered service as it didn't appear in the public works & school tt. To clear up the VIA OLD DENABY display on the Rotherham blind, I forgot service 291/297 operated from Rotherham, but in Doncaster Metropolitan district. For today's blind, we go to the wonders of Doncaster. The crews here didn't use the side and rear blinds (by instruction) but also managed on most trips to show the two terminus details together! Not officially sanctioned, but as Doncaster had got newer vehicles, the old practices simply went with them. This blind is for Novemebr 1980. HIGHFIELDS is odd, as most (if not all) workings were sd worked. CASTLE HILLS is an oft forgotten name for Scawthorpe. INNER CIRCLE is on, despite it being sd worked. After CANTLEY ESTATE on some blinds, an addition panel was added EAST CANTLEY. I have no idea where this is, or what service was planned, but it may have been a name proposed for what is now Bessacarr Grange. The bottom blind is mainly filled with schools, works and via destinations, but some stand out. Note how FINNINGLEY, MISSON, WROOT and SPROTBOROUGH make an appearance, despite the PTE not operating to any of these points. We all know the PTE wanted to but Leon, but the SPROTBOROUGH is YTC territory. It may have been put on in anticipation of a route swap that never materialised. SYKEHOUSE is another oddity, as all journeys were worked by either an sd or a coach. A number of qualifiers for top destinations are on, mainly for Edlington, Rossington and Armthorpe. Despite them being in Doncaster from 1974, a lot of people still associate them with mining villages, and associate themselves with an individual community. The VIA TOLL BAR display is interesting. SYPTE made an approach to South Yorkshire Motors of Pontefract to buy them out. However, they had no desire to sell, so the destination may have been included in advance of an anticipated sale. Dunscroft garage were very good at using the via displays and the majority of these are for the 183-189 and 250/249 group of services out to the North East. The last two displays appear to have been an after thought for extended services. Chestnut Avenue is at the end of Carcroft, so maybe an extension elsewhere was being thought about (it's missing off a later blind) and I seem to think LUTTERWORTH DRIVE is somewhere near Scawsby (I need help on that one!)

Thanks again brownncream. One of local interest! I've never ever heard of "East Cantley", and I live there! I would agree with your thinking about Bessacarr Grange. Was Plumpton Park Road on there for the middle school, that's onw a primary school (Hatchell Wood). As for Sprotborough, whilst it's before my time, didn't Leon work to there at one point? The Finno/Wroot destinations appear to still be on modern blinds, as when manual screen buses were seen on the 191 in September they had proper blinds. As First are well known for their care in adding new destinations to blinds, I suspect they were there previously! Lutterworth Drive is in Adwick Le Street - CLICKY

Hi brownandcream,
I remember the Doncaster destinations fairly well, so to pick up on a couple of points you mention:
1. The top blind included destinations normally served by SD because (if I remember rightly) SD's blinds was the same as the top blind for DD. 2. East Cantley is Bessacar Grange. 3. Leon destinations appear because some SYPTE buses were bought by Leon. I guess it's a safe bet that including Finningley etc on the blind meant Leon didn't have to buy any. Plus I'm not sure if the PTE did do some odd journeys out there. 4. VIA TOLL BAR is included because the PTE shared the 152 with Trackey at some point didn't they?
I am going by memory so I might have got it a bit wrong, but I'm pretty sure the above is correct.

Hmm - would the PTE have done that for the benefit of Leon? I'm not sure what the quantities of deckers bought by Leon were - can't have been very many, though. However, I'm sure you know more than I do!

Thanks for another great list

However, I'm sure you know more than I do! Dunno. It's the only reason I could think of them doing it especially as almost every Leon bus in the 80's were ex-PTE. Either that or they were preparing themselves for a buyout, as the PTE bought many independents in the 1970's, but I don't know why they didn't.

When I was a driver at Doncaster during the 1980 I did work the Inner Circle with 1799 for 2 journeys as my single decker broke down and Lutterworth Drive is at Woodlands.

I love these forums, because people can always add information to your knowledge!
That's great about EAST CANTLEY. I have a photo of an ECW fleetline with it on, but was never sure where it was meant to be! My first guess was Old Cantley as the PTE did eventually run a bus to that point.
Leon did buy two buses from the PTE in 1983/4, and they retained PTE blinds, but this blind is from 1980. I'm guessing it may have been on in case of a loan, but is certainly curious.
Thanks Ken for LUTTERWORTH DRIVE. I'm mixing it up with another place in Scawsby. Silly me, I really should have looked on a map! As for a d/d on the INNER CIRCLE, I bet that was fun! I liked the Alexander/Atlanteans, and if you forgot to close the middle doors they would do so on their own.
I will look out my 757 tt today, and will add this with today's blind which will be a 1983 example for Sheffield District.
If anybody has a Doncaster blind list for the combined number/destination box, please let me have it, or list it on this thread - it's not exclusive!

Notes
This proved to be the last PTE blind (excluding the red Fastline blinds) produced for Sheffield dd's. It rectifies the problems of some earlier blinds, but is riddled with gaps for destinations that should be on (you'll see this when I post the 1969 Sheffield A blind).
Making an apearance this time is WYMING BROOK, GOSFORTH, WATERTHORPE, SPINKHILL, HARTHILL & NORTH ANSTON on the top blind. On the bottom, the Walkley display has been rationalised, but the qualifying point still (needlessly) appears.
HEELEY & INFIRMARY ROAD jump ship to the bottom blind and MARCHWOOD finally makes a fleetwide show. EWDEN VALLEY, OWLER BAR and DUNGWORTH also jump in.
This blind was specially introduced for the North East Derbyshire changes, which replaced the service pattern around Eckington, Killamarsh and South East Sheffield. This blind was introduced at Halfway Garage as well.
The FASTLINE display is worthy of mention. The original panel was printed white with a blue & green FASTLINE logo. At night, however, this showed as just a white panel, so on later editions, was replaced with a blue and white panel. However, that didn't fit with the image, so a red version was introduced and retrofitted to many older blinds.
South Yorkshire Police made a visit to Sheffield Area Office one day, when the red blind was introduced, and informed the PTE that it was illegal. Showing a red light at the front of a vehicle is an offence. Despit the fact that it had white letters on, the Police told the PTE it would prosecute. Henceforth, a blue light was shown behind red blinds, rendering them purple at night. These blue tubes aso spread to other members of the fleet, but gradually died a death in the late 1980's.
Inserts to this blind were few. Halfway garage were first up adding HALLOWES to the top blind (for service 285). LIMITED STOP made an appearance on Herries vehicles for the revised 57/58/X66/X67 in 1983.
At de-reg Greenland Road (note the lower case) was inserted between GREENHILL and BRADWAY. Thorpe Hesley and Worksop between GOSFORTH and CHARNOCK and in 1988 Crystal Peaks replaced WATERTHORPE.
On the lower blind Lower Walkley and Herries Rd. Garage were added (placing varies to blind in use). At Greenland, some vehicles had DUNGWORTH removed (reason unsure) and replaced with a COACHLINE logo (Coachline was initially based at GR before LE). This caused problems when vehicles were moved about, so some very old 'Curwen Sans' DUNGWORTH inserts made a final hurrah.
Hopefully, time permitting, a Rotheham blind from 1983 on Saturday!

Thanks for the latest updates. As for the bottom blind insert at deregulation, as well as the lower case Lower Walkley and Herries Rd. Garage there was the first appearance of Central Bus Stn. I would think as part of the same insert.
Deregulation of course messed up the blinds no end, for example the deregulated 33 showing 33 / * / FULWOOD but having no display for the opposite direction on this blind as it had been extended to Herries Garage - even after the insert appeared buses usually showed 33 / SHIRECLIFFE / * . I still find the initial version of the 33 at deregulation a completely bizarre choice of cross-city route to this day.
I'm willing to bet that half the conductors never even showed MARCHWOOD for the 87, as I didn't even know that was on this blind-set, and thought it first appeared on one of the SYT blinds, so I've learned something today.
Have you got one the Fastline blinds to publish brownncream - I'd love to see those at some point, they just looked stunning because they were so different to the rest of the fleet.

John is right again! Central Bus Stn. was inserted (needlessly as BUS STATION was already on), but it was missed off my blind records for some reason.
I haven't got a 'red' Fastline list, I was hoping somebody has.
The use of MARCHWOOD, depended on vehicle type. As with all things, this blind was meant to replace all others (it was retrofitted to the ECW and MCW Fleetlines, for example) but, most AN68's retained earlier blinds. This could explain the lack of views.
