I'm assuming Central Bus Stn was there so it was easy to wind between Lower Walkley and it, as they usually added the insert around the CHAPELTOWN part of the blind, so it would have been a huge wind from one end to the other if they wanted to show BUS STATION.

I seem to remember that some d/d had both Scawthorpe and Castle Hills, they are the same place. sometimes I would show one or the other.
And Toll Bar was used when operating the 152 service to Burghwallis and also Rockware (works service) was on the blinds as well.

It's funny how twenty odd years can dull the senses! SCAWTHORPE was an insert on most blinds, but I've never seen them both together. I don't suppose you have a 1990 Doncaster dd list do you? My list has got lost somewhere.

Notes
A totally redesigned blind for Rotherham district. A number of destinations make a first show.
On the top BAWTRY is added for the X24/X25. BARNSLEY is on for the 227 (which use to be sd or coach operated, but was passed for dd in 1981/2), SWALLOWNEST, HALFWAY KILLAMARSH & ECKINGTON are on in readiness for the revised network between Rotherham and North East Derbyshire.
On the bottom, CONANBY is moved down below, HOYLAND appears (short workings on the 227) and BARROW COLLIERY is still on, despite the colliery closing prior to this blind being used. ULLEY is now on (soon to be redundant as part of the Nipper network) and STAG is an unusually short destination. The THREE MAGPIES display is shortened as well and the pub destinations (referred to as Hotels), which Rotherham blinds were famous for, is expanded.
This blind had a couple of inserts. MANVERS was placed on the upper blind at some point. On my example, it is in a totally different typeface, but produced by an independent company and not by Queens Road. On the lower blind, a blue FASTLINE was inserted after 1985.
On those blinds that remained after 1988 (mainly in earlier AN68's) a number of Sheffield destinations were added to the top and bottom blinds, on the closure of East Bank. All in lower case, they were replaced by a new issue from November 1988, so I won't list them at this time.
If time permits, a Doncaster blind from 1983 on Monday.

I don't have a YTC list, but have seen one on ebay recently.

Notes
Another fully redesigned blind for Doncaster.
CASTLE HILLS is replaced by SCAWTHORPE. BAWTRY makes an entrance, but as most, if not all workings on the X24/X25 were operated by Rotherham, it must be on the blind in case of breakdown. RAWCLIFFE is an unusual destination. On the 249 route, it was for short workings.
The lower blind has been considerably lightened. A number of the schools destinations are axed and the Leon and YTC destinations listed on previous issues are moved to the top blind. The via destinations are now mainly grouped together, but notice a number of different qualifiers for the outer estates of Rossington and Armthorpe. SILVER JUBILEE CLOSE is another new entrant, mainly for the different variant on the 179/190 service.
IN 1988, SYT won the workings on SYRT services to Leeds and Pontefract in the evening and on Sunday. Inserts provided were LEEDS, PONTEFRACT, SOUTH ELMSALL and WAKEFIELD. However, SYT never took up the contract, and it is doubtful that any were ever fitted (this information is from the late Andy Louth, former Traffic Officer at Leicester Avenue).
This blind was replaced by a new set in 1990. If anybody has a list, please post it here.

Am I right in that Eastfield Road is in Armthorpe? If so, were there once three termini - alongside Mercel Avenue and Wickett Herne?
Broomhouse Lane & Alverley Lane - was the route there (156? precursor to today's 16) split so half the workings went to Broomhouse Lane and the other half to Alverley Lane (in a Bonaly/Torphin fashion)? Or was it a 'circular' as now, with buses running Town > A.L. > B.L. > Town?
What was "Balby" used for - as there are seperate screens for AL, BL and Weston. Winning Post? Was that a p/r destination?
Cheers
Tom

I for one hope the blind actually said "Conisbrough" and not "ConisbOrough" afterall the bus wouldnt have a correct destination if so.
As for all the VIA Conanbys, ive gone into this before but the X78 serves the Canyon where Stagecoach services 220/1/2) serve the Conanby area ... yet First still claim their X78 goes to Conanby :S

Yes Eastfield Road is in Armthorpe and used by 181 and Eastfield by the 182 also Mercal Avenue was also used by the 180 in competition with Wilfreda. With regards Alverly Lane/Broomhouse Lane. Before the service was altered to run as now the Alverly was the 157 and Bbroomhouse the 156. Balby was used for the 162 which ran all the way along Balby Road and went right round the Motorway roundabout to stand at the Winning Post pub.
As far I remeber when the South Elmsal (498) and Wakefield (485) services were won on tender for evenings and Sundays/Bank Holiday it was intended to use D/Ds on them and the fitted them to a couple of D/Ds but the routes went to S/Ds due to a low bridge on the 498.
If I can remeber anything else I will let you know.

Absolutely brilliant to see the 80s blinds for sheffield and rotherham brownncream!
Id forgotten about Spinkhill though in the X52 days.
It would be great to compare a Sheffield blind/programmed display list of today to the blinds of the 80s.

Right, Rotherham Leopard blind today from 1983 DONCASTER CONANBY BAWTRY SHEFFIELD THURNSCOE GOLDTHORPE WATH ROTHERHAM MALTBY FLANDERWELL BRAMLEY BRECKS WORKSOP THURCROFT DINNINGTON HARTHILL KIVETON PARK ECKINGTON KILLAMARSH ROTHER VALLEY PARK SWALLOWNEST HALFWAY ASTON ULLEY ROTHERHAM SITWELL PARK GATES WHISTON COWRAKES LANE OAKWOOD BRAITHWELL RAVENFIELD CEDAR DRIVE SUNNYSIDE BARNSLEY HOYLAND WENTWORTH BARROW COLLIERY ROTHERHAM HIGH GREEN CHAPELTOWN THORPE HESLEY SCHOLES BLACKBURN SHARDLOWS ALSING ROAD TREETON CATCLIFFE BRINSWORTH THRYBERGH SILVERWOOD PARK HOTEL RICHMOND PARK KIMBERWORTH PARK DOVEDALE ROAD TEMPLEBOROUGH ROTHERHAM CHESTERFIELD CIRCULAR SCHOOL SPECIAL PRIVATE SPECIAL SHOW GARAGE * Notes First thing to notice here is the inclusion of a number of single deck exclusive destinations. The X91 had to be single deck due to a low bridge, so in goes THURNSCOE, GOLDTHORPE and WATH, although Wath could be reached by dd's. ULLEY is in again, this time for the substitution of a nipper Bristol (even though, I can't remember this taking place). BRAITHWELL is a Leopard favourite on the 122 as well as the 227 destinations, although most journeys were to be operated by dd's. WENTWORTH is on for the 144 and BARROW COLLIERY survives on this issue. Notice the shortening of SHARDLOWS (Works) and the ALSING ROAD destination for the service to Blackburn Meadows, which was virtually extinct at this time. Alsing Road today is the entry road for Meadowhall Coach Park. CHESTERFIELD will shortly become redundant with the 1984 changes to service 10 (becoming 263/264) and the ever wonderful SHOW. This blind was replaced in 1988 by a totally new issue, but the only insert I can find is SERVICE BUS and DUPLICATE in the X91 section. For those who don't know, the service use to be that busy, that in addition to the scheduled journey, relief trips were operated either side of these. This is why the service was eventually converted to bendi operation, but this had the side effect of giving a perceived reduction in service, eventually killing the service and morphing it into service 67 (Sheffield - Rotherham - Wath). If time permits a minibus destination blind from Rotherham on Wednesday.

An era of competition, now all we have is a monopoly . Ah, so there were two distinct numbers for AL / BL? So, technically, two routes, rather than one which split. Cheers
