...i have decided to take on the major task of coverting a large scale 1/24 London style Metrobus hopefully into a South Yorkshire standard Dominator !!! After some research , i have decided the basic shell has the same dimensions , although major work includes : file off all current body mouldings total new front and rear reshaping convert to single "stepped" door deepen all upper and lower side windows relocate o/s stair window - add new window redesign all interior , move staircase/ doorway panels ect replace all new body mouldings and glazing ect before final livery paint So, as you may know , this will certainly be a challange ! No turning back now - i currently have the model soaking in paint stripper as i speak !!! I will keep updating as i go along , so heres pic no. 1 of the said London Metrobus doner model ....

...i know , i know , --- but they just keep releasing London spec models/liveries , and dont cater for us ooop north , so reluctantly some "butchering" is required to make a local one !!!!

Are you planning on fitting proper sized wheels to the MCW/Dominator conversion as the MCW used smaller tyres then the Dominator which made them look taller?. Also will it be 2100 or one of the later 2400s?.

At the moment , it looks like a later style batch - C reg on - with sloping rear skirt . As regards the wheels , i think that is one of the least problems ! - i will get the height right probably reshaping the wheelarches ect - but thanks for the advice - i will be happy if it just "looks" right in the end considering all the expense and labour it will inevetably involve ! - i could prob bought a real one ! Any further comments as regards advice / livery preferences ect would be appreciated

If you make it C877JWE (2457) that still survives at Tinsley in first livery but would be best in "standard" SYT livery I think, just my opinion but looking forwards to seeing the completed model AND the "in progress" pics!

Good luck, i think you are slightly mad, but hope it come out great when you have finished. The only conversion i have ever tackled was open topping a vehicle and that was a long time ago. Don't seem to get the time at the moment. Must try those paper buses.
