A First bus on the junction of Spring Lane/City Road, apparantly the drive shaft had fallen off. Job stopped on the trams for about an hour and a half with services turning at Spring Lane and Gleadless Townend.

And as a good will gesture, First were accepting tram tickets during this period. Nice to see some joined up, co-ordinated thinking.

There was a service disruption tuesday night too as a passenger had to have an ambulance attend to her on a yellow route tram at city hall stop. This tram and tram 118 which was held at cathedral stop were delayed for about 40 minutes.

The bus versus tram debate is a pretty pointless one since both have their faults and both can ( and do ) obstruct one another. The rest of Europe, if not the world, seems to get on with the tram but here in Sheffield it still has its detractors but, then again, Sheffield is well known for "being out of step" as it clings to its old practices and mores.

Buses are not as important as trams most of the time. Aidan. In what respect? Buses carry more people than trams and therefore it's more important that they are running.

Could it be that with a length of 34.8 metre( one of the longest articulated cars ever built) and with a tare of 46.5 tonnes a tram carrying up to 320 passengers at speeds up to a max of 50mph needs some priority...especially at road junctions?
