Very very soon no doubt. Same old=PVR cut to get rid of a batch of buses. I'm old enough to remember the Mainline days, when they'd order new buses as a way of withdrawing a batch of old ones - didn't realise how good we had it once upon a time! And the Dominators/MCWs came off on MOT expiry so good stuff went before the junk that was mostly left (2249/2316 spring to mind!).

Timetables starting to appear on TSY Cheers for letting us know The new timetables seem to be without maps, annoyingly - I thought that one benefit of online timetables was that it was easier to include comprehensive information (whereas a paper leaflet has to be more concise for printing costs). The "new" 95/95A in Sheffield are to run Waingate - Pond Street - Brown Street - Charter Row - West Street (i.e. missing out High Street/ Church Street/ stop at the eastern end of West Street)? That may go down badly with passengers used to the long standing route for the bus to Walkley (though I appreciate that the new shopping around the Moor may be a target market). Surprising.

I think I am right in saying that with 8/8a withdrawal that it will be the first time ever that the former Sunnyside area now Edenthorpe will not have a bus route, surprising they are not putting any bus route here with the size of Kirk Sandall Industrial Estate and the proposed new housing development next to Hungerhill.
This area always had a regular bus route until the partnership came in now it has no buses at all a sign of things to come.

Correct, aside from the hourly 8/8a and one early morning 84 bus running through the Sandall Stones Road Industrial area. However, on scale this is only a small area being left without a route...two stops either side of Doncaster Road to be precise, as regular services 15/15a and the combined 84s run either side of these stops between Clay Lane and Church Balk. Most residents of the Sunnyside area tend to use Church Balk for the 84s and some even use Thorne Road services, likewise Church Balk for the Industrial estate as a regular route around there has never been warranted due low demand and usage. As for the housing estate, this will more than likely be readdressed once it is built, however personally I doubt it will change anything. Looking at those plans it seems there will be two entrances to that estate, one from Doncaster Road and one from Herald Road just off the roundabout at Thorne Road opposite Sainsbury's. It seems there will be no actual through road connecting either side (to stop heavy traffic running through I guess), but both sides will be connected via public walkways so I suspect most residents who decide to use services would walk to Thorne Road for the regular 84s and 87s.

I was on your route 65 yesterday from Silver Jubilee Close, I wonder how much longer First will persue this service, it was just me all the way until Lonsdale pub surely 65 cannot be a profit making route and will need changes at some point maybe revert back to the old 65 to pick up the Armthorpe passengers at Sandringham Health Centre and re-route a bus maybe 84 or 84a into Wheatley Hills.

I myself no longer live in Wheatley Hills, and these days I drive a lot more than taking the bus as for me its now become more reliable to do so than use public transport. From what I hear about the 65 they are again cutting some of the times back, so very soon it will revert to the folk of Wheatley Hills 'demanding' a better service. For years I would have been with them on their side, however you soon realise (it took a while) that the operators aren't always to blame, the demand is just not there. Wheatley Hills at one time always warranted a regular service. Growing up during the 80s and early 90s the old SYT and Mainline services were always well used, but like everything times change. There just isn't the demand anymore, and even when the demand is met its never well used. Likewise the Sandringham Road section of the 65 route, once the terminus area, now most people would happily walk to Shaftesbury Avenue for the 66 or Armthorpe Road for the 81/82. I often wonder whether circular services like 55/56, 57s/58s and 72/73 wouldn't work better in linking areas like Wheatley, Wheatley Hills and Intake. That seems to be the way forward for First in Doncaster atm and it seems to be working. Either that or reroute the 84/84a/84b up Chestnut Avenue, to Silver Jubilee Close and down Sandall Park Drive to Thorne Road as previous services did. Or even just the 84 on its own, it's every 30 minutes, runs via DRI and Sainsbury's etc and the slight reroute of Thorne Road would be no trouble at all.

You could have 79 which goes Intake to Hospital to town and 80 which goes hospital then Intake to town, maybe 79 Hexthorpe to Hospital via Intake or 80 Scawsby to Hospital then Intake.

If you use the Yorkshire Journey Planner, you can view an interactive route map and detailed trips. The timetables get uploaded every Thursday so there's a high chance the new ones will all now be listed. There are plenty of evening service cuts to frequent services in Sheffield, most half-hourly services dropping down to hourly after approx. 9pm. Can't see it going down too well with customers... With regards to the 95/95A route, think this is mainly aimed at the new shopping and leisure facilities on The Moor. Will also help free up an extra bus stop on High Street. Now if there was common sense, the 2/6/120 would move to HS5 and allow either the 1/11/11A or Abbeydale Road services to use HS3 and free up space at HS2 - especially considering its used as a crew change over point.

There are big changes coming to services in Sheffield. 3/3A is withdrawn and replaced with the 56 at Nether Edge and the 95/95A at Meadowhall. Herdings will be served with the new Herdings circulars 11 & 11A that will replace the 1A/56. Chop and change again, what's wrong with the 28 or back to 47/48?. Ditto 22 Nether Edge. Personally give me the 28 anyday. Cross city runs never work, especially with increasing congestion on the roads. Problem on north side of city and that's the south side screwed over...

Cross city runs never work, especially with increasing congestion on the roads. Problem on north side of city and that's the south side screwed over... I agree that cross city runs can be a problem, however maybe it's down to money and the only way to maintain a service level is to combine routes. What I find more frustrating is the usual "drip feeding" of timetables by SYPTE and the operators.. It's alright putting a summery up but we are now around three weeks from the changes and still unsure how some services will run. I remember when for example TM Travel took over the old 34 route in Whiston, and on Sundays the 19:20 and 20:20 bus were withdrawn, with the last bus at 18:20. The trouble was the new timetable was not released till between 7 and 10 days before the change. Any poor person who relied on those later services to get home from work had a week to make alternative arrangements. Not good enough for me. I have always thought that If the traffic commissioner normally requires 56 notice then passengers and drivers should get 28 days notice, with full timetables published. Maybe that's too difficult, who knows. Oh and try and cut down as well on the number of timetable changes in a year as well! No sooner do you get use to one thing they change again. Apart from the university summer changes. I really think two major changes per year should be enough. Rant over!

Cross city runs never work, especially with increasing congestion on the roads. Problem on north side of city and that's the south side screwed over... This'll be something that always ebbs/flows over time - in the way that First took the "improved reliability" approach (by cutting the long standing 81/82 into a Stannington - City service and a City - Ecclesall service) and then the "saving money" approach by reducing the combined PVR by sticking them back together again. With no FreeBee (or City Clipper) any more, cutting the proposed 11/11A into a Chapletown - City and a City - Herdings service would mean potentially sixteen buses per hour on the Moor - Castle Square section of route (as well as removing the service from Gleadless Valley to the Northern General that SYT/ Mainline/ First have been operating since the 47/48 became cross-city around thirty years ago) Personally, I'd be happy if my local service became split in the city centre, as it's length can make it unreliable (and it may mean a link to the train station) but the city centre junctions are busy enough already without significantly increasing the number of journeys. Ideal situation might be to have a co-ordinated set of routes that terminate "just inside" the city centre (like the 31 that only runs a loop from Snig Hill - Waingate - Angel Street - Snig Hill) with frequent FREE services linking all of the bits of city centre together (and cross-city services focussed on those that provide genuine useful links, like Hospital/University) but the PTE don't have the money for that.

Whats the 58 interworking with at Hillsborough when Stagecoach take over? Looking at the new timetables it looks like it will interwork with the M92 which is now extended to Hillsborough.

A lot of evening services axed on the south west side of the City...
eg:
4/4a - no evening service to Psalter Lane or Carterknowle as the replacement 6/218 doesnt operate in the evening 86 - no evening service to Lowedges leaving Archer Road and Hutliffe Wood without any buses 24/25 - only one bus an hour (24) to Bradway/Lowedges in the evening and no buses (25) on Greenhill Parkway
