Very interesting, does not look as bad as i thought it might, with what people have been saying. One to keep a eye on.

Great news that this has been preserved. I hope there will be an open day again one day soon - last one a couple of years ago was great!!

The last open day was a good day for all concerned! I'd love to organise another but at the moment health and safety consideratons caused by the aging Tram Sheds is preventing me from doing so. We moved 2013 into the sheds on Saturday, and yes it was a very tight squeeze! We've found one or two probems with it, the most serious is water pouring out of the heat exchanger on the gearbox. This is first on the list, and then there is a couple of air bags to do. All in all, its pretty reasonable.

And amazingly, after those photos, we've video of 2013 in action during the last weeks of operation before withdrawal!
Jump to around 2:12... ;D

Incidentally, is there much history of the DABs operating services, during the Mainline/First Mainline era, other than the 501 and 502? Any rare workings? I remember them appearing on school runs (even after the withdrawal of the 502 itself). The 501, of course, continued after the end of bendibus operation.

Taken Norton Lees Road, Sheffield. One of the Bendi-Buses use to come on the 20 Route at 3-45pm every week day. Note the Veolia style of lack of destination blind. Only ever went to Hemsworth and never came back. (Sorry for the poor quality taken with a old 110 camera and film before digital days).

Many thanks for that picture, certainly didn't know that they ever operated around Norton Lees! Presumably, the blinds were limited to only a few destinations by the mid 90s? They were very faded by the end of the operative lives in Sheffield, after perpetually displaying Meadowhall and Batemoor for a rather long time!

Didnt they operate on the 69 for a while too? 2011-2013 were used on the 69 after they were painted into Rotherham Mainline livery. Route branding for the 69 was added to the trailers. A picture on Flickr of 2013 with the 69 branding. www.flickr.com/photos/db3435/3191627257/

The bendi-buses did my school bus around 1999 to shuttle us between the two parts of the School. Metrobuses & Dominators were used as well.
