Something like this is to become mandatory on all buses over the next couple of years, 2026 iirc Correct, all vehicles built after 2019 must comply by October 25th, the rest have got while 2026. Cant see First having any worries complying. The destination set-ups are being changed to, to show to City/From City on routes, some other part route/snow diversions have gone. Unfortunately the announcements have to be of a certain volume, so there will be drivers struggling with hearing issues in the future. I knew about the 2019 vehicles coming in sooner although I wasn’t aware it was that soon, I made a point the other day “well that won’t affect us for a couple of years then” 😂

I was only on the bus for about 10 minutes and it did become rather annoying. In my opinion, a better solution would have been to provide headphone jacks for those that want to listen/require aural information, such as the disabled. Sorry but this just would not work. You should know, if you've ever been on a bus and suffered people playing music/watching videos/having facetime calls, that very few people carry earphones. And those that do tend to have Bluetooth ones these days. And the announcements aren't just for the disabled. Anyone unfamiliar with a route, or people from outside of Sheffield will find them useful. I rely on them when travelling on buses in London, for example.

Do you mean on the window blinds? Surely if a bus that usually goes to Woodhouse only displays Darnall, that indicates that it's only going part of the route anyway. All customers are advised to state their destination with the driver upon boarding. The one sign that is useful is the one that says on diversion, and saves the driver having to deal with the jip when the bus turns off course. For example with the 120s and 52s, they've been pulling them off course at University Island and running them down Hanover Way instead of along West Street on some evenings, it caused a lot of confusion with the casual traveller.

Yes they've got rid of the part route displays such as Darnall, Broomhill, Crookes, Handsworth, etc.

11716 CH-HK Was used mainly on the 39s in Chesterfield last week to gauge public opinion but when collection was due Sunday it was found to be out on a 77.

I must say I enjoyed having it in Chesterfield, rather snazzy. It spent 2 days on the 39 before working the aforementioned 77a to Worksop and back, returned to Holbrook and by Wednesday it was back here on the 1! The seating is better, easier to wipe clean too and the wood-effect flooring looks good. I definitely think there are benefits to the bus operator (Stagecoach) effectively building the bus themselves, they effectively own ADL.

I've been told that this vehicle is being used as a trial for deciding on the interior spec of the new EVs on order from various ZEBRA2 winnings; Chesterfield included.
