i was reading that chesterfield are taking on some new work around ripley and matlock will from end of august will there be any service changes happening for them to be able to do these new services or any extra buses coming to the fleet Initially they are taking them on as-is, so will be discrete diagrams. Whether they'll revise things in time is another question, there is probably scope for improvement. I'd be wondering more about drivers than buses, Stagecoach as a group will always have spare buses but whether the depot has enough drivers to run these without having to cancel other services is my main concern.

Looks like Stagecoach have changed liverys again, 10661 in a Glossy Black allover livery with the current roundals applied at the rear. 36994 HK-ED for major RTC repairs. 12161 slowly being rebuilt after well over 14 months out of action.

OOOh that livery sounds good. I'm not a fan of the 'current' livery, I think it looks cheap. Glossy black sounds good and dirt won't show.

Apparently it's the darkest Navy Blue you've ever seen.

26087 also in the black with the roundels. Apparently it's the darkest Navy Blue you've ever seen. I’ve only seen a small photo on my phone but it looks significantly better It passes the following tests that the current livery fails - simple to replace panels most likely to be damaged in accidents (yup, all panels are one colour, should be a lot easier) - hides dirt relatively well (nothing is perfect but a dark bus will hide the effects of muddy puddles/ pollution etc significantly better than a predominantly white one) - designed to work on a bus (the best liveries are ones that suit the vehicles they are on, they accept the realities of windows/ destination screens/ doors etc - look at how the original Barbie avoided such clashes, kept a dark skirt, had the willow leaf designed around the rear wheel etc.., in contrast the current Stagecoach livery looks like something that was fine on a blank sheet of paper but all those complicated curves are easily disrupted by windows etc meaning that the effect is lost - this new one has a flash of colour under the windscreen and some at the back of the bus but otherwise avoids being unnecessarily complicated) So, based on the little I’ve seen, it’s a thumbs up from me (and, buses get repainted every few years, we’ve still got the main beachball/ green beachball, Gold etc on the local fleet, about five years after the last set of changes, so they’ll paint stuff when it needs painting, I’m relaxed about the costs here before anyone uses that as a reason not to change)

I've always thought a good livery would be a Great Western Railway Green at the back end and lower panels, with a modern curved swoosh higher up and towards the front. It's the back ends that gather the most dirt from brake dust and exhaust fumes, so the darker, the better for that part. On a separate note, a new uniform has come in which looks far smarter than the polo shirts that were introduced a few years ago. Most of the Chesterfield drivers are wearing the new uniform. It's a blue and white striped textured shirt and looks rather smart, especially with a tie.

Bus driving is first and foremost a profession. Professionals should dress accordingly. I am not supportive of the casualisation of uniforms in general.

Drivers should be able to wear what they're comformtable in. Very few professions wear button up shirts and ties these days. Antiquated nonsense.
