One thing to remember is that it was described by a senior manager of SYT/Mainline as "A misrable little bus company" in a submission to the office of fair trading !
I suspect they didnt think that when they bought it

Used service 220 every day (holidays excepted) for about three years. Driver was the same one every day, one Mike Felton (now late, sadly). Mike Felton was a good friend and colleague of mine, as you say sadly missed. I wonder, is 'Hank' still about these days

The North Western connection was a Mr Ian Dyson who was sent by North Western with a view to buying Sheafline out-the employees sold to SYT instead and the painted buses from North Western fetched in to help out with the Maintenance issues were sent back to Liverpool. The information and observations in Sheffield led to Mr Dyson set up Sheffield Omnibus with Mike Armstrong of Cumberland Motor Services and Tony Williamson of Leicester Citybus and another guy Bob? from Midland Fox.

It was alleged that a high flyer form the Safeways supermarket chain was in Sheffield to do a promotion when he saw a filthy/rusty Mk1 National belching black smoke out pass him with Safeways plastered allover the sides!. ;D I dont think safe was the picture in his mind.

Correct Busman-the original Sheafline KT530 company only ever used GM Atlanteans/Fleetlines, an ex East Yorkshire Atlantean and the YPD-Y Tigers. When SYT bought out S&D/SUT/Sheafline they put some of S&Ds staff and buses into Sheafline as well as purchasing most of West Ridings home fleet of Nationals and some of Yorkshire Tractions Nationals which ran with "on hire" stickers for a bit.

They were-it was used as a driver trainer too. And the driving instructer was Brian Martin-who retired as an instructer from First a few years back, very well known with his distinctive cumbrian accent.

Never thought that Sheafline operated any local services in Rotherham (19 Thurcroft) as depictated by one of the images in that gallery.
By the way, didn't the livery before the former West Midlands colour scheme came into widespread use, actually use to be pink - or am I thinking of another operator here?
